If it isn't one of these, I fail to see the purpose.

Ben Carson launches American Cornerstone think tank.  I guess a Cornerstone Address is next.

I believe, if you check, you'll find that's a grain silo, not a think tank.

He had it a few months ago.

And it should only take about four or five years before it produces its first thought.

They call the monthly meetings "Sleepovers."

They have plenty of bedding, thanks to a "MyPillow" closeout sale.

A tank to hold grains?

be centered around the "cornerstones" of faith, liberty, community and life.

I love the way they say "faith" when they mean "Christianity", and "life" when they mean "only fetuses".

And then what? It came down with infectious narcolepsy and failed to f*ck him up? Well, that's just great.

Ah yes think tanks, where unelected deconnected from reality elitists chickenhawks and morally bankupt people try to manipulate the political discourse, destroy politicians that wont do their bidding and write laws.

Think tanks should be illegal.

And for the first correct one?

2021-02-04 5:20:23 AM
Maybe if he thinks long and hard he'll figure out why trump put him, a brain surgeon, in charge of HUD.

Awwwwww....... shucky ducky.

He was the one person in the administration we never heard about for the entire term.  Does that mean he was competent (by Trump standards) or did he just not show up or do anything for 4 years (which is also competent by Trump standards I guess).

He did plenty of things like increasing rent for Section 8 housing and reducing voucher payouts, completely killing almost all maintenance for public housing and gutting staffing at HUD. He just did it quietly instead of grabbing a bullhorn and screaming it outside CNN's offices. Also likely helps that, as a country, we largely don't give a flying shiat about poor people.

His wife spent $31,000 on a dining room set for his office. He likened slaves to immigrants. He was on Trump's coronavirus task force (really).

He quietly did his part to dismantle the social safety net, just like he was told to do.

MAYBE in order to understand Housing and Urban Development, we have to look at the phrase itself. Basically, it's made up of three separate words - "housingandu" and "rbbandev" and "elopment" What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is Housing and Urban Development.

Deep Thoughts, with Ben Carson.

"I miss when compromise, compassion, and civility were not only encouraged but celebrated, where individuals accepted the consequences of their actions, when politicians pursued the public good, not just their own good," he wrote.

Then...
and let me be as clear about this as I can....
WHY DID YOU WORK FOR DONALD TRUMP?
WHY ARE YOU IN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY?
If you *really believe* any of that, you need to be telling the GOP to get bent.

They mean none of that. What they really mean is how can the Kochs not pay taxes and pollute without consequences.

Ben Carson refused to release the emergency aid allocated by Congress to help Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria. After 2977 people died, 18 months later, he eventually agreed to release the funds after a media firestorm.

All he had to do was write his signature on one piece of paper after Congress allocated the emergency aid, which is a requirement of his job, and many of those victims might not have died.

I guarantee that in this think tank, he will never think about the people he killed through malign neglect.

I'm a mailman, and considering how often I see Ben Carson's face on some scammy mail fundraiser I'm guessing that his institute has been created to be Carson's new fundraising scam.

More of a "dream tank" in his case.

PAC's and political parties have co-opted the concept..It's not that "Think Tanks" (Like Rand) are
bad..The ones that actually do studies, peer reviews and fund scientific concepts..

What these are, are ways to short circuit the actual neutral and scientific community by creating
a Fox News style contrarian "opinion" for the sake of politics..They get a bunch of crackpots and
political names to sign off on some paper or "study" to refute ACTUAL scientific research..They turn
the system of discourse and peer review on it's head and weaponize it for politics..It's sick..But it's not
what they call it that matters (ok it sorta does because it legitimizes themselves when they don't really THINK
at all), but that they abuse it.

No, like anyone in the Trump disaster, he had super-expensive stem-cell treatment, paid for by the taxpayer.
