Is it "He watched the news the past four years"?

2021-01-28 4:14:38 AM
I have little doubt his team has been actively studying for the last four years everything the previous administration has done, and has been planning out how to effectively reverse the damage as quickly as possible.

I know some guys in a trade association (no, they are not on K Street) and they met with the Trump transition team for a cabinet agency. "Horror" was the mood I detected in our conversations after the 2016 election. "Clueless" was the most polite adjective I heard.
I haven't had a chance to talk to them since the 2020 election about how they feel about policy stuff.

Big fan of this. The Biden Administration was denied critical transition information for months, yet after a week in office they're more effective than the Trump Administration.

Yes with COMMUNISM AND SOSIALISMS!!11!!1ONE!!!11ELEVENTY11!!!!11!

On a serious note. I can now focus on my actual life without worrying what sh*t they will f*ck up in the next 15 minutes.

There will be f*ckups as in any GIGANTICALLY large organization as the U.S. Government, but at least I know the principles won't actively be trying to f*ck it up. Every. Single. Day.

Very refreshing.

Bureaucracy is difficult enough to run when theres people actually trying to do the right thing.
Trump tried to run the government as a Mark Burnett production.

I've heard that actually being competent, having a plan, and having a grasp of how government functions is helpful. Having an interest in things beyond your most base desires is also helpful. Crazy talk, I know.

Call me naive, but I get the impression that Biden's here to work - not to enjoy the perks of office or feed his ego but to actually try to get some things fixed (even things that he realizes that he himself might have helped to break).

Don't get too warm and fuzzy, we still don't have control of the Senate and House GOP are putting their insane insurrectionists in as many cabinets as possible.

The horrifying thing was how Trump had zero preparedness to actually win the election and begin governing.  It was obvious he ran for election as an attention whore stunt.  Normal candidates are fairly prepared going in.

No. Hilary Clinton has been running a shadow government since 1997, and she's still in charge.

2021-01-28 9:45:13 AM
We're lucky that Biden has a long history of service in the Federal Government including 8 years as Vice President, so he and his aides have a good idea of how things are supposed to be organized and function.  We're also lucky that the Obama administration was only 4 years ago, and they can pull those folks with experience back in.

I'm sorry but Democrats do not even have control over senate committees and most of Biden's cabinet hasn't even been introduced in committee yet.

Nothing has happened like this since 1881.

If there has been a single defining feature of the first week of the Biden administration, it has been the blistering pace at which the new president has put his mark on what President Donald J. Trump dismissed as the hostile "Deep State" and tried so hard to dismantle.

From the Pentagon, where 20 senior officials were ready to move in days before the Senate confirmed Lloyd J. Austin III as defense secretary, to the Voice of America, where the Trump-appointed leadership was replaced hours after the inauguration, the Biden team arrived in Washington not only with plans for each department and agency, but the spreadsheets detailing who would carry them out.

You love to see it, Jack.

I remember an old Trumper acquaintance telling me that Trump knew that he was outside his element in politics, so of course he'd appoint only the best people to advise him.  I stopped all contact shortly thereafter.

Yeah, that's what's supposed to happen.  We don't really need an article to explain that Biden isn't rage tweeting at 3am.  The President isn't supposed to do that.

My favorite part of the Biden administration so far is today there are articles about the rapepublicans whining about all the EOs he is signing to undo all the shiat that Dotard did.

/and their concern for the debt

I tried watching the news yesterday, and I just couldn't. It was boring.  Reports on foreign policy by people with British accents.  It was like the before times.  No new executive level crimes or scandals.  Nothing POTUS said that sounded like he had brainworms.  I don't know what I'm going to do with myself.

That has become the model for the current GOP. Madison Cawthorn has bragged that he's not in office to legislate, he's in office to communicate. They neglect governing to use their place in it as a pulpit.

This is because people thought having an "outsider," a non cog from the machine, zero experience in the job so they aren't "corrupted," was a good choice.  Which is odd because if you applied that mindset to any other job, they would tell you to fark off.  Like, would you want a Trump equivalent as your surgeon?

My sister's best friend was on Obama's transition team. Biden's people called her and asked if she wanted to come back.

They reached out to everyone. Biden was doing more than just Tweeting when he was "hiding in his basement."

All contracts can be broken. It just depends how onerous the penalty clause is.

As if.  I doubt "his team" thought they were going to win the primaries until very late in the game.  The idea "his team" has been studying for the last 4 years how to undo Trump's shiat is ridiculous.  MAYBE they've been on it for a few months at most.  I mean, your statement makes no sense, yet there you are with 36 likes.

No kidding. Biden did not have a serious chance of becoming president until Obama cleared the field for him on super Tuesday. They assumed their other options would be enough to stop Bernie.
