I really hope that's sarcasm.

I've thought of doing stuff like that.
I figured it'll probably attract unwanted attention to me and better scammers/hackers will take me as a challenge.

Would you really want to marry someone stupid enough to fall for such an obvious scam in the first place, though? Also check out her artwork. Mind you, she says she's "self-taught" and it's nice of her to take the blame.

By the way, is there an PS5 Analogue Edition?

Anyone unemployed has that kind of time.  Anyone unemployed with a partner that's supporting them while unemployed definitely has the time.  Still an entertaining story, even if I think it's fiction.

Felgraf: one with a disc drive

Aside from watching Blu-rays or listening to your tunes, I can't see any PS5 games coming in physial format. The last game I obtained that came in disc form was GTAV - 9 DVD-ROMs and several hours downloading the extra software. Cyberpunk 2077 & Detroit: Become Human were around the 60gb mark each. I can't see todays kids spending hours swapping discs over. Not like the good old days.

If you think about it, she's out 450 bucks and the PS5 that she *would* have been distracting herself with.  She now has NOTHING BUT TIME. Getting her money back was now the new the challenge.

Yup.

It takes 2 scammers for a scam to work.  Only one wins, tho.

If a total stranger is offering you a "deal" at well below market rate, it's a scam.  An "in-hand" PS5 selling for MSRP right now is a 14 year old girl on the internet looking to hook up.  Just like most molestation, such an exchange is going to occur between relatives and family friends, not strangers on the internet.

That got really dark, really fast.

But you are right about the fact that scam "victims" are often caught by scams because they ultimately are seeking to get ahead.

I only read maybe half of the article, it seemed fake as hell to me, also boring as hell.

Seriously, someone sends you a sob story about their child's medical bills and that that encourages you to send moar money?  The proper response would have been "the sooner you send the goods, the sooner you you get your money."

I don't think I've ever advertised an item on Craigslist, where I didn't get at least one idiot trying to get the item for free because "My disabled veteran daughter is dying of cancer and her now deceased father used to sing her Christian hymns near a  set of snow tires on rims just like you're selling, and it would mean the world to her!"

When my son was 19, he decided to buy a motorcycle. His on-line search created attention. He was cold-contacted by someone from another state claiming to be a woman who wanted to sell her husband's motorcycle at 25 to 30 percent less than it was worth. She wanted money up front. Then, she would ship it.

I told my son "No, I'll drive you to that state so you can test drive it." I knew it was a scam.

She argued with him. She didn't want him to test drive this mint bike. So, if you ask her why she is selling the bike for less than it's worth, she will state that she is a widow. That's exactly what happened.

As they went back and forth, I warned him that next she would claim that she, her mother, her child, or all three of them had very expensive and urgent medical needs and that she had to have the money right away or she would sell the motorcycle to someone else. I told him to tell her "I understand, go ahead and sell it to someone else." He did and she began to sing a tune about how much she liked him. She thought her husband would like my son. She really wanted my son to have the bike.

I asked him "Has this woman ever met you in person? How long have the two of you been communicating?" And I told him to tell her again that I was bringing him to test ride the bike. He wanted the deal to be real so bad. He relayed my message. She ghosted him.

Later, his uncle helped him buy a great bike at a fair price from a local seller. Yet, my son remains convinced that I know nothing . . . nothing at all. It's very discouraging.

I ended up +$280 after I filed a police report over a Nintendo Switch scam on eBay. The Ebay idiots kept saying "but it shows the package was delivered" even though the delivery address on the confirmation did not match my home address on file with them and my CC company. The CC company took my evidence and the police report and issued a chargeback. When the police eventually caught the confederate of the scammer that had been accepting more scam packages eBay finally realized they had farked up and issued a refund to my credit card, even though the charges had been reversed so I got my money back twice and the confederate got some jail time =)
