In other news, that's 66 years, 8 months at $15/hour, full-time, before taxes. Assuming that a minimum-wage worker starts at 18, retires at 70, never misses a day, and doesn't pay taxes for their entire life ($1,560,000), they would still be about $440,000 short.

That's the optimistic future. The pessimistic one? We're still stuck with a $7.25 federal minimum wage, which means that if that worker had a child, didn't spend a dime on that child, and that child also worked its whole life after the parent died at 70 & passed on their entire earnings ($754,000), neither the parent nor the child could ever hope to see that car - they would still be $492,000 short.

For a current minimum-wage worker, it'd take the third generation of that family to buy that car, and only if all three generations never spent a dime, each generation worked 52 years, and the grandkid was finally able to blow the wad on or around his 35th birthday.

Bloody 'ell.
