We've seen the law not apply to Ted Cruz and his corrupt friends for decades. Any time they've even come close to experiencing consequences, they whine like a little biatch as Cruz is doing now and they get their way.

Unfortunately we'll have to wait and see if they get their way yet again.

I hope his fellow Senators stop referring to him as, "...my distinguished colleague across the aisle..." and just start calling him Ted.

I think America should revise the First Amendment to explicitly prevent elected officials from outright bullshiatting people, or promoting proven and debunked conspiracy theories. That would clamp a muzzle on idiots like Ted Cruz and at least make him parse his terrible message into a whole new type of dog whistle.

None of the people he wants to bar from the office want to run for the office again, so I don't care.

Additionally, he can try, but he won't succeed, so I don't care.

That ringing in your ears is merely your tiny brain rattling in your skull, Ted.

Or just reattached consequences to actions, and meanings to words.

He's the farking worst. He absolutely knows these are garbage positions and he's pandering to gullible and dangerous morons but he does it anyway. Somehow he's a different kind of amoral than most other Republicans. Only Rubio comes close and he's light years behind.

If a man called my wife ugly and then I sucked his dick, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be married for very much longer.

There are several vulgar expletives for the kind of person I would be as well. The worst of them is "Rafael Cruz".

Personally, I don't have a problem with the name Rafael. Personally known one (great guy, as of 8th grade) and my favorite ninja turtle. But Ted Cruz's base does, and so that's the direction we're going.

Cruz just yadda-yadda'd over the whole rallying an insurrection to commit murder thing

Cruz said he felt as though he were trapped in the Bill Murray time-loop comedy Groundhog Day "where apparently every January we're going to be doing another impeachment,"

As an elected representative, everything they say in an official capacity, whether it's speaking on the senate/house floor, giving a speech, talking to the press, or posting from their official Twitter/Facebook accounts should be considered under oath, and they should be held fully accountable for every word of it.

Funny how the ones who scream how patriotic and freedom loving they are the loudest are also the ones who act the most unAmerican.  He worships the physical flag while not giving a flying shiat about what it stands for and symbolizes.

They are the ones who vocally champion the sanctity of marriage and proudly show off their wedding ring while blatantly cheating on their spouse in public.

I didn't know that they still had impeachment trials pending when they left office.

Oh no...please...don't impeach two men who can never run again anyway ... and a third who would never do so again.

2021-01-27 12:58:36 PM
But we should try to work with these people.  Sure.

They don't see the impeachment trial as a response to the insurrection.  They only see it as an attack on Trump, and, by extension, themselves.  It's all teams to them--our team does something to their team, so their team gets to do it back.  They don't even act like real people.  There is no humanity in these assholes.

Why does he think it's possible to impeach a former president?  Does he need another reminder that the Senate trial is not about impeaching Trump?  That already happened when he was still president.  This is just completing the process of Impeachment -> trial -> consequences (if convicted).  But the process has to start while the person is in office.

/I'm assuming he knows the difference but is counting on the MAGAts not knowing
//I could be wrong.

2021-01-27 1:00:20 PM
Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz suggested during a Fox News appearance that former presidents Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama could be impeached like former President Donald Trump.

Well, no, they can't be impeached like trumpy.
1. They hold no office. trumpy was the sitting president both times he was impeached (as was Clinton when he was impeached).
2. Unless you're hiding something, Ted, there isn't evidence that they have committed crimes against this country.

But yes, if there is a good reason to impeach them, then you can do so. Well, not you, Ted, but the House. You're still going to come up with some grounds for impeachment though.

"They hate Donald Trump," Cruz said. "For anybody who hadn't been paying attention, they made it very very clear. Look, these are the same Democrats who 4 years ago in 2017-actually, in December of 2016 before Trump was sworn in-said they wanted to impeach him.

I don't recall that, but it's fully possible that they wanted to impeach him before he was sworn in. Kind of like how republicans were talking about impeaching Hillary before the election even took place (I think it had to do with her emails...). And yes, they do hate him, because he's such a piece of shiat. I mean, wouldn't you hate someone who couldn't converse on an adult level, but instead resorted to childish name calling? I mean, let's say someone called your wife ugly - you'd probably take issue with that, right, Ted?

But regardless, neither of trumpy's impeachments were on the grounds that anyone hated him - they actually presented crimes against this country as reasons for impeachment.

What every single media outlet should be asking Ted Cruz and Rand Paul, with his cute and widely debunked legal argument that a former President cannot be impeached, is exactly what legal consequences Trump should face since he 100% clearly incited an insurrection on the Capitol in order to try to overturn a legitimate election that he badly lost.

As his cult roamed through the halls of Congress, flying Trump and confederate flags, while chanting "Hang Mike Pence!", while others erected a gallows and smashed in the skull of a Capitol office with a fire extinguisher, Trump watched with glee, and ordered the Pentagon to disallow DC National Guard units to stand down.

So what is the remedy for that? You just let that slide?

Really, the easiest thing for the senate to do would be to convict. What really should happen is a DOJ grand jury indictment in The DC district where Trump could sit in judgment among his peers (snert) for treason. Because that's what this was. Treason.

Given that Biden is going to suspend federal executions, if he hasn't already; it's hard to keep up, Trump could just spend his remaining years in a the SHU of the Colorado Supermax eating nutriloaf and having to change his own diaper 6 times a day.

But really. If not impeachment, then what are the consequences for this act? Because there have got to be consequences. Otherwise, there is no rule of law, and a President could just go on a crime spree during his time in office, and then walk away, even if his final act was to try to overthrow the government. Like... what just happened 3 weeks ago.

Cruz envisions a fantasy land where possibility still exists that one day he will become the President of the United States.

/spoiler alert: It will never happen
//even before he incited an insurrection, the fact that he sucked up to Trump after Trump called his wife ugly would have been enough to sink his campaign

Orchestrating a coup attempt against the legitimate government of the United States of America for the purpose of remaining in power tends to leave a bad taste in people's mouths, Raphael.
