At this point, SNL needs him more than he needs them. He's a great straight man (which is the hardest job in comedy) and provides non-coke-fueled guidance to the cast. If NBC has any brains, they'll start easing him into Lorne's spot.

Well good for him. At least he wasn't one of those cast members in the 1990s after Wayne's World hit who were just there to create a character so they can make a shiatty movie. I'm looking at you, "Pat".

And people say all child actors turn into nutjobs that set their dogs on fire.  The guy has had one hell of a long career, pretty much all of it in sketch comedy.

I said it before, his only schtick is acting like he's so surprised he's playing this character on SNL.

"Oh my God, how ridiculous!  I'm a game show host"
"Will you look at this?!?  I'm supposed to be a judge now!"
"Heaven's to Betsy!!!  Now I'm a guy in an office!"

He keeps that little smug grin on his face like he's SO above what he's doing without actually breaking character like Jimmy Fallon did.

Can't stand the guy

stoli n coke: He's never going to leave SNL if he has his way.

Along with becoming a mentor to younger cast members, rumor is Lorne has been grooming Keenan as a potential replacement for himself.

No snark, that's pretty farking rad for a guy I watched as a teenager goofing around on Nick

Or a sketch calls for a game show host.

Damn, this guy's been around so long he calls Lorn Michaels "n00b".

Bslim: I'll take Keenan over that Davidson cretin any day of the week.

But he's troubled! And has a lot of tattoos! And that gets him a lot of pussy but it's just not enough. 😥

Kenan is the best.  I know that not everyone has the same tastes in entertainment, but what is wrong with all the Farkers around here who hate Kenan?  His characters are ridiculous, and they make me laugh.  I wish him all the success in the world.

Most of SNL is terrible these days, but even though I know, objectively, Kennan Thompson isn't great at sketch comedy, I've got to admit, just looking at the guy makes me laugh for some reason.  And this is one of my favorite bits of the last 10 years:

exactly.  he's been good at comedy since he was a teenager; guy deserves the success.

I hated him at first but he grew into probably the most consistent cast member on the show.
