morg: Easter Eggs have totally lost any value. I'm not even sure this qualifies as an Easter Egg. It's a self-referential tribute to a character that was killed off.

Best Easter egg of all times is in Peter Jackson's King Kong.

So we spend a lot of the movie doing character development, with little or no action.  In a giant monster movie.  So eventually there is a scene where the radio operator on ship is copying a message in Morse code telling the captain to arrest Carl Denham and to return to port.  When I was watching it, it was good Morse sent at about 20 words per minute, what you'd expect in real life.  That's unusual in movies.  Mostly you get "Morse-like" gibberish.  The film Independence Day is a perfect example of that.

I was watching it on DVD, so I paused the film, got pen and paper, and went back to the beginning of the scene.   I literally fell out of my chair laughing, because this is what the Morse code says:

SHOW ME THE MONKEY

That's how you do an Easter egg.  Not only is it hidden in plain sight, and relevant to the film, it's also an acknowledgement that the film is "dragging" at that point, by the people who made the film.

Well it was a Peter Jackson. We're lucky it was only 3-4 hours. You should see the two day director's cut.

I'm not sure about that, but I would say it is easily in the last 3 released Star Wars movies

Examples of messages on bombs from a movie that's actually worth watching.

You can't make me deal with that "space magic" movie again. No way in hell. Some directors shouldn't be allowed anywhere near star wars
