Olympia Beer hasn't been made in Olympia (or Tumwater, same thing) in ages, and its "It's the Water" slogan has therefore been a lie ever since.

"It's the water" wasn't a good slogan for anything.

Olympia is what the more savy upperclassmen found when pbr became too expensive.

Cajnik: Olympia is what the more savy upperclassmen found when pbr became too expensive.

...which is probably why Olympia's no longer a going concern. Local swill now owned by national swill-slinger, taking sales away from national swill-slinger's national brands? Kill the local swill, sling the national swill!

two towns over: "It's the water" wasn't a good slogan for anything.

Bear Whiz Beer's slogan, "It's In The Water!", works, though.

Wasn't it just House of Heileman?  Wisconsin beer?  I

Didn't they close the brewery back in the 1990s?  Cool little park if you've never been there.

And I'm a R-Dog man, myself, if I'm caught drinking half-water/half beer.

The "the" was always superfluous.

Back in the 80's, Olympia was our group's canoe beer. We'd go canoeing and we'd always get Olympia as a tradition.  Fun times.

I haven't been canoeing with my buds in decades, but this makes me a little sad.

Where, oh, where are the artesians?
Are they over or under the ground?
Well, we don't care!
If there aren't any there!
As long as there's Oly' around!

I don't remember Oly actually being very good.

I swear they used to have a jingle that went something like:

Make friends with Olys!

Good times are here!

When you make friends

With the big bold taste of Olympia Beer!

I even remember the melody; however, the googles have failed me and I can't find anything that matches.

Us kids always knew we were getting back close to home when we'd see the Olympia brewery sign off I-5. The big R for Rainier upon hitting Seattle was the kicker though.

It's amazing how many folks could fit into those old cars and wagons. Mom, dad, auntie and uncle, five or ten little snot nosers and maybe a dog or two. Good times.

Cool how some of the simplest things remind us of some of the most important.

Even when I lived or worked in that part of the country I never had it.

It's gotta be bad If it had that long of production a pandemic and Quarantine (where all you can do is sit home and drink) shut it down.

When I was an underaged drinker on the west coast, my go to for a buzz was a quart of Ranier Ale.

Pretty stout, kind of like a malt liquor I guess.
