So out of $289 million, most went to banks who bankrolled his corrupt empire and the victims get $17 million.

I support his victims suing those banks for $300 million in damages for supporting a criminal enterprise.

The last paragraph:
"The bulk of the Weinstein's Co.'s assets were sold in 2018 to Lantern Capital, a Dallas-based private equity firm, for $289 million. Those funds were used to pay the company's secured creditors."

They should have given the victims $289 million and let the 'secured creditors' fight over the $17 million.
I know... but our shareholders

I did a self evaluation after the #metoo movement started. I couldn't find anything I had done that I wouldn't admit to my fiancee or mother.

That said this isn't about me. This isn't really about men my age*. It's about young men just hitting the dating scene or men just coming into some sort of power (boss, producer ect). It's a warning and I'm glad for it.

*Obviously it's also about men my age, but I think more than anything it is about a culture change.

$17 million is pretty light for what this shiat heel did. I would think his damages to Mira Sorvino would be higher than this.

Harm is harm, regardless of your bank account.

Exactly, Subby. The lawyers make all of the bucks and the pittance that is left goes to the actual victims of the lawsuit. Yeah. usually in the 10s of dollars even if the lawsuit was settled for billions.

2021-01-26 10:29:45 PM
Yeah Subby. The lawyers hog all of the money possible, even if it was settled for billions. Then the victims get tens of dollars.

Not that they don't deserve their money.
Hell. I can't watch Planet Terror anymore. Because now every time I watch it I sincerely wonder if Rose McGowan's tears are real, in the opening scene.

My main point was no one did this for the money. They all have money, no?
He wasn't raping unemployed room service maids was he? Not that that would mitigate the awfulness of his behavior.
Anyway.
I'm sure I'm digging my self in here.

Harvey was a very close and personal friend of the Clintons so I'm not sure why Trump would care to help him. Though the criminal charges are at the State level so it wouldn't matter.

There are many level here.  For instance, Harvey was worth about half a billion.  I don't think most of his victims have cleared a million in a year.  Most are not even celebrities.   Keep in mind, he abused a LOT of women.

Trump did time in the Hollywood orbit.  Creepy asshole using the casting couch, just seems like the exact kind of star-f*cking Donnie would respect.  Trump used to hang with the Clintons too, as much as you'd like to forget that.

$5 says if there are recordings of the Oval Office conversations about pardons and who could get them, Harvey would have been at the top of the list.  Sleazy game recognize game.

I really think his underlying problem was a virulently toxic personality---it's not that he's ugly, hell, back in the day he was a regular looking guy:
Fark user imageView Full Size

per the Wiki this is him in 1973, and I'll tell you this is a completely average look for the time.  Half the folks on Fark right now had Dads that looked just like this.  Any rejection he would have gotten wouldn't have been directly for looks, but for being a dick.  This is what all the normal looking guys were like.

He abused his position, and had been doing it for years to get younger, hotter, coerced poon. The guy needs to rot in prison

Other countries put people who win lawsuits ahead of secured creditors. Many countries put secured creditors only above unsecured creditors and whatever major assets are left over is dealt with by the will. Some places limit what a major asset is so the 1st home and car will go to the spouse even if the deceased is in debt above their eyeballs.

Most people agree with you, but also remember the makeup of almost all legislative bodies that would be required to change the system. Lawyers are overrepresented in most legislative bodies, and it seems most laws are created to insure full employment of the members of their fraternity.
Vote by mail allows people more time to vet the candidates. It should be nationwide, as should ranked choice.
