Florida makes bid for Olympics if Tokyo backs out

Could you even imagine what that might be like...

AFAIK, the IOC is really keen on the Olympics being hosted by a particular *city*, and not having venues scattered over a super-wide area.  Especially after things like the yachting events for Moscow in 1980 being hundreds of miles away in St. Petersburg.

If they tried to run the Marathon in Miami, they'd have to start it at 5am to avoid the worst of the heat and humidity.

The 200 Meter Smash-n-Grab
The "High" dive, where you must be inebriated
During the 400 the racers are chased by actual police dogs

Might be cool but I would not want to be the Olympic member who has to put medals around the alligator's necks.

Well, it would be more entertaining for us, the viewers....

The Times of London is the one who started this mess.  There's no indication at all that the Olympics are going to be cancelled in Tokyo.  Japan is just being prudent and making an effort to control the spread of disease.  This is seen as weak and cowardly by conservatives.

It's like a porn studio saying that they are offering a million dollar contract to an actress that's having difficulties. They don't actually want their offer accepted, they just want *their* name in the news.
