I've received both shots and I'm not changing a thing. Protect myself and others. The only thing the vaccine did was protect me those times I inadvertently let my guard down, or just by happenstance come in contact with someone or anything that has COVID and slips through the preventive measures like masks etc.

Anyone who thinks this gives them free roam to throw away masks and swim in covid juice is a moron

As soon as I get my vaccination I'm throwing my mask away and going for a swim in covid juice.

You can actually ditch the mask after the first shot. But I wouldn't swim in Covid juice until maybe two or three days after the follow up shot.

Because variants and mutations mostly.

This. Even if everyone is vaccinated by June, masks will probably be with us through the summer into the fall. Masks might not go away for a long time, becoming the thing to do in order to be polite if you have a cold.

I mean, at what point do you start to take for granted that everyone you run into has been vaccinated? Until they announce they're hunting down people who refuse, how can you be sure?

I'm also basing it off of trends noticed in the 1920s, after the influenza outbreak. In hindsight, it does not appear coincidental that gloves were heavily in fashion. Experiencing an epidemic can make protective clothing quite fashionable afterwards.

Good for you, but I'm running out of stamina. I can't do this miserable half-living shamble forever.

I can hold out if there's a finish line in sight but if there isn't I can't just keep on indefinitely.

"The answer I am going to give without the question is, 'Should you get the vaccine?' Absolutely, yes, you should get the vaccine," said Dr. Reihart. "It's highly effective, and it's going to safe lives."

That's great and all, but how many of those lives are going to end from being crammed into a safe?

The truth is, in my neck of the woods anyways, that this pandemic has illuminated something disturbing about my fellow humans. Those that haven't been wearing masks and wont. They may or may not get the vaccine. They are completely self absorbed and are not doing the bare minimum to protect their friends and family. So we have many restaurants in Southern Oklahoma that refuse to do anything to mitigate this disease. They could serve take out only but NOPE! Gotta have the doors open and pack in the customers like sardines. Carter County hit #7 in the nation per capita a week ago.

If the owners operators of these restaurants can't be bothered to do the bare minimum during a pandemic what does their kitchen safety look like? How consistent are their employees washing their hands?
If an airplane mechanic is an anti-masker/vaxxer and won't put the health of the people in their life that they supposedly love first, then how thorough are they at doing their job of ensuring the plane they are working on is safe?
This is the same for medical "professionals" that are posting anti science crap on social media. I don't want them taking care of my loved ones.
I will, forever, have an intense level of distrust and disdain for anyone that was actively pushing back against mask mandates and vaccines.
There is a large list of businesses that will never get my business, here in tRump country. I've had both doses of the Pfizer vaccine, but my wife and kids can't get it yet. I work  in healthcare and 2020 has been one of the most stressful years of my life.

Wow, that was therapeutic to get that out.

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young - Almost Cut My Hair (Live at Farm Aid 2000)
Youtube p1M3-m9VDqc

My hair hasn't been cut since last January, I had an appointment made for the middle of March, but... you know.
I walked past a hairdresser near my neighborhood yesterday (I moved in July, so weird to not shake hands when meeting a bunch of new people), and I opened the door to ask what they charge. The woman said, "$25, but if that's too much you can pay what you can." I know businesses are hurting, but I found that to be really generous. Warmed my heart. I can afford it post-vaccination, but I called a bunch of people who I know who can't to throw the place some business.

/ might wind up saying fark it and be one of those old hippie chicks with a silver-grey braid down my back.

YAKMANS_DAD PREDICTS:

One of the aftereffects of the shutdown will be a year or two of people getting regular, preposterous colds. We normally encounter our fellow humans' microscopic detritus on an almost daily basis. We haven't been around any stranger at all since the Thanksgiving Surge made us more serious about self-isolation. When we get the vaccine and get bolder we're just going to get flattened by a tsunami of odd proteins.

According to my study, the number of people vaccinated has steadily increased since 1960. My data also shows that the number of computers in the world has also steadily increased since 1960.

Therefore, vaccines cause computers.

Step 1: Get the vaccine...
Step 2: Wait for 7-day average of new cases to drop below 3000/day...
Step 3: Start to think about a normal world.
