Based on what's come out, it's 100% clear that Trump intended the Jan 6 insurrection to be a mass casualty terrorist attack that would have given him his excuse to declare martial law and seize power.

It's just that the American Nazis were a bunch of idiots who not only failed to actually burn the Reichstag, they were caught red handed dressed up as Nazis while trying.

Sinn Féin at least had enough of the courage of its convictions to not participate in governments it considered to have no jurisdiction over Ireland. "Shinners" continue to refuse to sit in the British Parliament, though today they do take their seats in Dáil Éireann and in the Northern Ireland Assembly.

So what's the Redcaps' excuse?

If Joe Biden is truly a usurper with no legitimate claim to be president of whatever they believe the United States to get, why dignify his regime by sitting in the globalist-controlled Congress? What's stopping the Redcaps from setting up their own Congress 2.0?

(Aside from the fact that the members of the First Dáil were prepared to do some actual fighting on their own behalf.)

This is that 'messaging problem' the Democrats struggle with.  They're so incompetent at using the, uh, Liberal Media, most of them, that the Republicans barely need to be able to string a slogan together.

I don't love Hilary, and I don't hate her, but her main campaign strategy and media engagement policy seemed to be These people are bright, and they'll figure it out themselves.  Al Gore's strategy (and Dukakis's, and . . . ) seemed to be I'm obviously the better candidate.Sensible people will prevail.

This is far from impossible to solve, but procedural Machine Democrats are never going to solve it.  Pelosi managed, like, four sick burns on Trump in four years.  Trump is a walking punch line.  Someone like AOC (or Al Franken, if he hadn't bowed out) can manage four sick burns a week while still getting stuff done.  Pelosi and Schumer let a lot of GOP atrocity slide on the grounds that it just naturally makes the GOP look bad, like a parent letting a child's tantrum run its course in a crowded restaurant.

If the party's appearance always works against it, well, who the hell is managing the party's appearance?  At least there's some long-overdue changeover in the DNC.  We'll see.

I don't think the suggestion was the rioters were undercover antifa. There are actual serious question surrounding the decisions made by Bowser and the House Sergeant at Arms (who reports to the legislature, not the executive) to lightening security when they knew a huge angry crowd was coming to protest that was going to include all of Trump's most insane supporters.

It seems to be a fairly consensus view that this was obviously coming so there was either some intent to set the stage for things to get of hand because the political optics would be so useful for Democrats (Bowser immediately proclaimed statehood for DC as the answer, Dems declare all conservatives terrorists, etc.) or it was complete incompetence on the part of the same folks who just happened to get a political windfall from their own stupidity.

I'm not saying that's what happened, I give incompetence a little better odds, but it's not hard to see why people think it should be investigated.

DC's statehood was brought up long before January 6th, even with significant popular pushes throughout 2020. And it's hardly the first time that Republicans have been terrorists or terrorist-supporters.

But I suppose it's easier for you to believe anything to avoid admitting that your "team" tried to pull a coup and failed miserably.

Aaand, for anyone who thinks that the MSM was "in the tank for Hillary" in 2016, this is Exhibit A to refute that. "Deplorables" blew up so much because the media quoted her out of context and almost completely ignored the main point of that speech, which was the second "basket" of Trump supporters:
Hillary Clinton says half of Trump's supporters are in a "basket of deplorables"
Youtube PCHJVE9trSM
The Associated Press version of this stops at about 32 seconds into this video (though it does have some context from earlier in her speech that this one lacks).

Then the Republicans do the same thing back to the Democrats. Its not like the Republican party is a significant minority to ignore. No, their size is the reason why a lot of this happens. It can't be ignored. And that is the reason why Russian and Chinese agents target the Republican party.

At the very least, the GOPers should kill themselves like all honorable usurpers. The Dems (and the rest of the United States) should give them zero quarters. Hang them all and leave their bodies out for all to see.

It must be fun living in an alternative reality. I wonder if their sky is magenta?

Oregon is a profoundly racist state. It wasn't that long ago that it was illegal to be black there. If they can't own em, they don't want em around.

erik-k: It's not in the way they mean it, but... They're not wrong.

This was the failed beer hall putsch.

GrinzGrimly: EvilEgg: Honestly if the Democrats had the low cunning and wherewithal to pull something that large and secret off, most of the Q folks would have disappeared quietly without a trace.

I don't think the suggestion was the rioters were undercover antifa.

Of course the suggestion is that the rioters were all undercover antifa, and you know it.  It's just that the Trump cultists who were there are saying "no, you know us, you recognize it's us, why are we under this bus?"

Others don't think that story will sell, or don't think they can tell it with a straight face, so they're trying to suggest other disinformation.  Maybe just the ringleaders were antifas, and a few innocent Q Shamans and Prude Boys and 3.2%ers got caught up in the crowd during the exuberance after the President's speech and dragged along by antifas telling them the pizza was over this way.

Cythraul: nmrsnr: Aren't they the ones who fled the state so Democrats couldn't govern?

Democrats are 'guilty' of pulling that tactic as well. Just depends on why they're doing it.  When Repubs do it, it's usually not in the best interest of the country.

True. These are the reasons the GOP in Oregon did it.

RandomAxe: This is about six weeks past the point where the Democrats should have publicly said, "You know what?  These people are dangerous lunatics.  And we're not going to deal with them anymore.  They can resign, or they can be recalled, but we're not going to consider this specific bunch legitimate politicians.  We're not taking them seriously as spokespeople, or as legislators, or you name it.  Their claims and complaints will be discounted as nonsense."
