I'm pretty sure I know who paid for that advertisement masquerading as an article and it wasn't Dell.

I bought a Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Series 5502.  I sure hope I'll like it (when it finally shows up after two months).  It comes with an Intel i7 processor, 12GB of RAM (guess it might be able to upgrade to 16), and 512GB SSD.  I hope I can find a way to optimize it because Windows 10 is so farking bogged down with its shiat.

Laptops? Didn't anyone tell this guy that laptops are over ever since tablets came out?

"Dude, you're gettin' a Dell!" always sounded like a threat to me.

As a person who thinks Dell Latitudes are the greatest family of laptop of all time...

Don't get an XPS, especially not now, especially not Intel. Especially not last (10th) gen Intel.

Either get a used one (the article itself says the actual build isn't much different from the last gen), or wait for Ryzen + USB 4 (for Thunderbolt docking, DisplayPort is virtual arse and Port Replicators, despite their greatness, are dead).

Or get a Dell Latitude, you'll thank me when something breaks. Regardless of whether the warranty is current (NBD onsite) or expired (they are effortless to upgrade and repair).

I'm wanting to see how the new Zephyrus g15 holds up. My 2015 Blade is hurting right now.  I think it's the system board, but who knows, either way it needs a replacement.

I bought a Lenovo Legion 7i recently. It is wonderfully fast.

That's the only computer ad I remember until the "I'm a PC / I'm a douche" commercials.

Don't buy a laptop based on a Gizmodo article.

Drop $1300 on a dell? No thanks.  Wouldn't drop $130 on a dell.  Would rather spend $10 on one of those fancy knives that either breaks or dulls after two uses and stab myself in the foot.  Less painful.

Why would they say to consider a $2100 16" MacBook Pro, when someone is looking to buy a $1250 13" laptop?
I mean, if I was going to recommend an Apple alternative, I'd say go with the M1 MacBook air. For the same $1250, you get twice the storage, and a lot faster computer.

Does it have an easy to remove battery or one that is hard to get out of the case?

The Dell looks like it has a pretty easy user replaceable battery.
You still have to open the back of the computer, but it looks like about 6 screws to remove the battery.

I'll stick with my M1 Air. It's redonkulous

Easy: Install linux. Mint is popular, Pop!_OS is pretty; there's dozens of versions to choose from. All far easier to move to than changing to win10 was.

let's pretend I don't know shiat about Linux or coding or anything and just want all the bloat from Windows 10 gone.  What are my options there?

Reinstall it (Search Media Creation Tool) easy to do with a USB flash drive.

Then press Ctrl-Alt-Escape. Press More Details, go to Start Up, and disable everything you don't need.

Whoops, that should be Ctrl-Shift-Escape.
