Don't behave like Trumputin and you won't get compared to Trumputin.

Amazon's planned bioterrorist attack makes America less safe.

Amazon: "Don't tell us how to run our business."
Amazon to union: "We're going to tell you how to run your business."

In-person voting is an intimidation factor at a normal job. When you consider that Amazon can track individuals so precisely in their "GO" convenience stores that you just pick items up and walk off with them, it's not a far leap to figure they can track employees. Plus, they hire Pinkerton spies.

I'm glad Biden has already fired the top two NLRB folks who were anti-union lawyers installed by Trump, and I can only assume that since many if not most unions vote by mail already, this would be no different. Shady shiat.

Bezos is doing this for the same reason Trump tried to. He knows the vote won't go the way he wants so he's trying to limit participation as much as possible.

Maybe now that Trump's out of office people will stop ignoring how consistently reprehensible Bezos is.

Fun fact: Did you know you can email jeff[nospam-﹫-backwards]nozama*com with your gripes? Might be fun to ask directly why they're doing this. Might help even more if lots of people do that...

We really ought to expropriate Amazon's property and capital and nationalize it as a public service.

There is no reason why a man or board of shareholders should be profiting so much from the distribution of goods they do not even manufacture.

Even if they did manufacture them, the profits ought to be distributed amongst the people.

I got in trouble regularly when I was a recruiter because I refused to fill Amazon jobs.  I wasn't going to put any of my people in such horrid conditions.  Amazon doesn't get a friggin' dime from me and never will as long as Bezos keeps running it like a sweat shop.  Richest man on the planet--off the backs of workers he's paying pennies of what they're worth.

I was a union member when flying for an airline. Boy howdy would management have loved to have an in-person requirement given most of us were somewhere else all the time.

I think it's probably tough way up there. Even for someone like me, with a little time, travel and connections and suddenly the world is a very small place. Like running into an old friend in a third world airport lounge. You probably feel like you have no choice but to at least try and take over the world.  It's really the only thing anyone gets remembered for once they do it.

Until Amazon has better employee conditions I'm gonna plug AbeBooks as an alternative to used/new books. Search for a title and bam, books in all conditions from booksellers all over the country. Even rare/signed books as well. Great prices, reasonable shipping times. Always got a book in the described condition.

Doesn't even need to be awesome benefits and pay, just reasonable work conditions and fair wages.

Pay them a starting wage of $20 / hr, full medical and toss in the ability to buy stock at a discount, set reasonable work quotas so a reasonable, fit person can do it in an 8 hour shift with appropriate water and pee breaks and you wouldn't have to deal with this.

But no, being the richest (or 2nd richest depending on what kind of day Tesla stock had) isnt good enough for Bezos. Gotta amass that Scrooge McDuck vault of gold coins.

Workers would probably consider it a win at the same $15/hr start if they could get the $0 Healthcare and some 401k matching. I bet they'd bargain for guaranteed hours too. I say that b/c Boeing machinists in Washington starts at $16.20/hr, but it's about a $14k a year worth of benefits. And raises every 6mo to a year until you cap out around $40/hr. Their union dues are $100/mo but that's less than non-union pay for Healthcare each month alone.

But after joining a union I'd say one of the biggest benefits is the fact that contracts define discipline outcomes  and you get union rep at meetings. It helps avoid being railroaded by a bad boss.

Fun fact from Wikipedia, concerning Pullman's body:

Fearing that some of his former employees or other labor supporters might try to dig up his body, his family arranged for his remains to be placed in a lead-lined mahogany coffin, which was then sealed inside a block of concrete. At the cemetery, a large pit had been dug at the family plot. At its base and walls were 18 inches of reinforced concrete. The coffin was lowered, and covered with asphalt and tarpaper. More concrete was poured on top, followed by a layer of steel rails bolted together at right angles, and another layer of concrete.

I am fine with the military giving the Bezos 24 hours to hand over control to the government or have all the amazon warehouses demolished with daisy cutters and the amazon headquarters hit with a bunker buster.  And ll the homes of the Executives strafed with A-10s until the Bezos surrenders without condition.  I would prefer this outcome.  But I am willing to let the boycott try and have an effect for 30 days or so.

And if everyone shat sherbert we could solve world hunger.

I think that's more likely than people not googling things.

Most of our school systems are integrated with Google tech. They own us.

The only way to fix that is expropriation. Take their assets, take their facilities, give them to the workers and unionize them all.

That, or seize it and nationalize it and let the revenues flow to the state to fund social services.

But all that would do is cause them to cut bourgeois taxes to offset the revenue gains. Can't let the poor have the flexibility not to work for exploitation wages. Gotta impose artificial scarcity.

Yeah, collective ownership is really the only way out from under monopoly.

fark the mega corps and their spying.  I ACTIVELY try to get my people and associates off of the social media and the google.  Most resist, and I am not going to force them, but the few that have taken the challenge, have said they are objectively happier, after the weaning off period.  Let the mega corps fail.  Let them burn. It will be glorious.

Wait...so you don't care if the kids, who didn't choose this life, had their data given away?

A bastion of moral virtue, I guess.

Conqueror of Bread: AmbassadorBooze: Conqueror of Bread: AmbassadorBooze: Conqueror of Bread: AmbassadorBooze: Conqueror of Bread: AmbassadorBooze: Stop using amazon.  Don't let your government reps give amazon preferences or contracts.  Stop using all bezos products including whatever newspaper he owns.  Also stop using facebook, if you need anti social media, use fark.  And stop using all the google services.

Problem solved.

Yeahhhhhh that's not going to happen my man. Boycotts won't work to change what has been incentivized.

The article argues this point fairly well. This will require a more organized and militant response.

I also don't use twitter.  If all people stopped using facebook, twitter, instagram, amazon, and google, the boycott would work.  I don't even use google DNS servers.

I didn't vote for the school systems to be infiltrated by google tech.  Burn the whole farking thing down.  We are in a pandemic and most kids aren't learning anyways.  Sounds like a good time to nuke the system and burn it down.  Since it is already failing.  farking nuke the corperate spy system.  I don't care, you wont harm me if google and twiiter and instagram and facebook and youtube and amazon are dismantled today.  I have 6 mo ...

Their parents sold them out.  I would fully support a death penalty for the parents that sold out their kids data.  But, until I am given power over the kids, I am not going to take responsibility for the kids.  And If I am given ultimate power, there will be a lot of crying.

You know people go to jail for not allowing their kids to go to school right?

So the parents don't have a choice either.

Basically no one has a choice because these are private tyrannies that control essential tools for a modern society.

Hence the need to seize them. Democratize them. Distribute their resources.

We should literally do that for every single multi party enterprise.

And singular party enterprizes would be regulated democratically through regional mechanisms.

But that isn't going to happen if we silo ourselves off.
