That's some tall window. Helicopter?

And probably fell off a junk truck.

You'd think that they might notice it missing.

When I was learning to fly the best instructor I ever had (Dave Lowe) would clamp down on the yoke and rudder and make me fly the 152 with the doors and elevator trim tab. He was a madman, I would always have to make shiat up to enter in my log because modified hammerhead box canyons at 300' and subsequent downwind landings were frowned upon but goddamn if he didn't teach me to quit being afraid of the aircraft and wear it like second skin.

I'm still looking for a pciture match.

Still think it fell off a vehicle -- it's filthy.

We couldn't find the highway, so we had to take this thing called the "M4."

The first thing I'd do when driving a humvee was to take off the doors. I liked having the breeze.
Wonder if pilots do the same.

Probably a Piper. They had doors that almost met at the top like that, with the latch in the middle.
Filthy too. Did most likely fall off a metal scrappers lorry. Few people would fly anything that grim.

BINGO!

That is a door from a Piper Tomahawk. The handle snapped off on impact I guess.

I thought "dropped objects " reports were taken quite seriously. One doesn't just lose a door and not notify somebody.

/"yo dude, you're missing a door" need us to call the FAA for you?

Naaaw. I worked as a flight instructor at an airport with four flight schools. Stupid shiat like this happens.

Let me rephrase that.
One does not lose a door in flight without making a report, not that it doesn't happen.

Yep. One of my students after getting his private license went out and bought a plane he couldn't handle. It was a pusher with gull wing doors. I did not train him in this aircraft. He went directly from a 172 to this:

A velocity. He got checked out in the aircraft by someone else. On his first solo in the plane he didn't shut one of the doors completely. He was in the pattern doing touch and goes and voila the right door opened up and ripped right off. It cleared the prop otherwise he would be dead.

It would be an "incident". Now reporting an incident has a murky area. The regs define what is reportable and what is not. Here is a link. So you really don't have to report that. And you really don't want to drag the FAA into anything.

There are two things I have learned about lighter than air craft.

1. I'm deathly afraid of them (fear of heights)
2. Insanely hot women tend to frequent ballooning events

I'm SEL rated. The club aircraft I usually fly doesn't have doors either. Sliding canopy for the win.

1. Before flights, I ALWAYS tell my passengers, "this will NOT cure acrophobia."
2. Please send me a list of these events. Apparently they're not the ones I fly at.

Put Park City on your calendar. You can thank me later (but not with a ride in your aircraft).
