(Kansas City)   Josh Hawley defended the Oklahoma City bombing, characterizing it as a legit war of ideas between the government and various Gravy Seals & Meal Team Six terrorist militias. But by all means, let him stay in Congress because cancel culture is mean   (amp.kansascity.com) divider line

According to white guy Josh Hawley it's a legitimate political tactic to blow up little white children with truck bombs.

Yeah. This guy is a douchebag. Anybody who defends the OKC bombing in any way cannot be called prolife.

He's one of those guys who should NEVER be trusted to be president. He is completely without moral feeling and is already hardening into a canker sore. His old ex friends say that the kind and decent man they knew in school is gone. He's becoming pure hate and bile. He's racist, he's sexist. His mother is an evangelical loon and he's becoming more like her every day. He's an elite that won't learn how to play well with others. He's pure ambition no matter the cost. He's dangerous.

And this is the bull he defends. This.

This is what he defends. Pure evil.

I'm wondering how long he will stay married.  His wife is a law professor and I'm sure that is causing some reputation problems for her.  That and a month ago she was married to someone who might be president.  She isn't any more.

In a war, belligerents ideally confined their aggression to military, logistical and command and control targets.  The Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building had a daycare

Are you sure? The Federalist Society is the new RINO. Fascism is the new Conservative. Mass murder of political enemies and race-traitors is the new patriotism. There aren't any negative consequences for it if you're a Republican Senator.

FTA: "In this politically correct society, derogatory labels such as 'racist' are widely misused, and our ability to have open debate is eroding," he wrote."

There's probably a legitimate discussion to be had about the over-use of terms like racist, Socialist, Nazi, and Fascist as tactics to shut down any and every dissenting opinion or person.

The guy who just tried to throw out a bunch of legal votes by (mostly) black Americans isn't the one to start it, or be involved in it.

Everything Cotton said could also be said about cults. I mean Charles Manson and crew were just ordinary people who felt disenfranchised. Same with Jim Jones and his followers.

Right wing politics has turned into a cult. QAnus is the western equivalent to radical Islamic extremism.

With so many trials coming up following the arrests of the Capitol seditionists, it's going to be interesting to see who they blame for their actions. Trump obviously, Lin Wood we already know was heavily retweeted by the woman who got shot during the failed coup, Cruz theoretically (if anybody pays attention to a word he says or writes, I find it hard to believe anybody does but time will tell), and Hawley would be right up there too. Oh, and how did I forget Rudy?

He can deny inciting stuff all he likes but if dozens of defenses in criminal trials say they were normal law abiding constitution respecting citizens who placed their faith in the literal words of the President, his lawyers and his Republican supporters in the Congress then attempted a coup, that has to have consequences for all of those who called on "patriots" to "fight"/"combat" those who "stole" the election to save the country.

Associating the militia movements of the 90s, though, was pretty damn accurate. Otherwise, gun shows wouldn't have always remembered to have the area in the back where people could buy Nazi memorabilia and copies of The Turner Diaries and Hunter. Those books didn't sell half a million copies on the shelves at Barnes and Noble.

These assholes match Churchill's description of Lenin:

Implacable vengeance, rising from a frozen pity in a tranquil, sensible, matter-of-fact, good-humored integument! His weapon, logic; his mood, opportunist; his sympathies, cold and wide as the Arctic Ocean; his hatreds, tight as the hangman's noose. His purpose, to save the world; his method, to blow it up. Absolute principles, but readiness to change them. Apt at once to kill or learn; dooms and afterthoughts; ruffianism and philanthropy. But a good husband, a gentle guest; happy, his biographers assure us, to wash up the dishes or dandle the baby; as mildly amused to stalk a capercailie as to butcher an emperor.

The quality of Lenin's revenge was impersonal. Confronted with the need of killing any particular person he showed reluctance - even distress. But to blot out a million, to proscribe entire classes, to light the flames of intestine war in every land with the inevitable destruction of the well-being of whole nations - these were sublime abstractions.

It is incredible how often in history Missouri has had the ignominy of being the focal point of bad, selfish, religious, racist leadership.
It is almost as if Missouri is where organized crime slops its hogs.

We can forgive children for holding opinions like that one, because as an adult a rational person realizes the monstrous nature of it and changes.

That's what differentiates Republicans from the rest of us. Their opinions never evolve.

On this one point, I would sorta, kinda, agree.  There is a difference between being racist, and being a bigot.  One is merely pointing out differences and stereotypes between races.  The other is actual hate.

Is it racist for a black guy to say to me, "You've got great rhythm for a white guy."?  Of course it is.  But is it hateful?  Of course not.  It's a compliment.

I've known many people in my 51 years that have all kinds of things to say about all races including their own, and none of it makes them a bigot.

I think we should start using the term bigot, or Nazi where it's appropriate.  It's fine to point out that someone is racist.  But lets be clear that there are different levels of that sort of thing.

Is there? It's pretty clear that Hawley thinks something like Oklahoma City is a reasonable reaction for the "economically anxious" white military cosplayers, otherwise he wouldn't be making excuses for it.

Where do you find the daylight between "I want to go blow up a day care" and "I don't want to blow up a day care, but I support the people who do and encourage others to do the same"?
