Changing things out send messages, too.

She didn't really add anything to the show at this point anyway, and her acting is atrocious. She's always been more of a distraction than anything else. The show has plenty of kickass women who are better at acting then Carano was. She never really had the chops to play an Alderaan survivor - that whole aspect felt tacked on with her in the role.

Okay, I'll bite, who's hunting her? Nobody went looking into her past looking for her bigoted idiotic viewpoints. *SHE* has gone out of her way to antagonize the audience like the piece of trash troll she is.

Please, don't confuse sedition or the QAnoners with "politics".

My saying "I disagree with you, and this is why" while accepting facts is political.

My saying "You deserve to die, you scumbag commie!" and buying into conspiracy theories, cheering on sedition, that's not politics. It's terrorism. It's intimidation.

That really is part of the problem here. Otherwise reasonable people (looking at you) have bought into the idea that violent extremism (nor the support of it, in any way) is somehow acceptable in political discourse. It is not. Stop normalizing this crap.

I watched this terrible show for ten-year-olds because you wouldn't stop lauding it and this woman plays a completely disposable character. You don't have to "recast" someone who is in three out of twenty episodes. The show is not a serial no matter how much you want it to be.

OK. Lots to unpack here.

First, the blog Subby linked to is a rag. A shiatty conservative-leaning Disney rag that's apparently staffed by two people. Taking this as the authority on anything is like taking a Ben Garrison comic as a good source for political news.

Second, the artwork had room for two of each "side" (light and dark) and the choice between Dune and Ahsoka is an easy one. Ahsoka sells toys and merch; Cara Dune does not.

Finally, as to Carrano's political leanings, she's not being "canceled" by fans because she's a conservative. She's being shunned because she's a JERK who makes fun of transsexual people and supports stupidity like anti-maskers and "stop the steal" lies, and doesn't seem to be able to recognize that she has (had?) a good gig that would have padded her bank account and made her a fan favorite for the next two decades if she could just avoid being a shiathead on social media. I'm perfectly fine with her being phased out. Don't recast her. Just let her settle into her role in the background and never revisit her character. If you need someone to fill that role in the future (tough former Rebel) there are plenty of other characters and actors you could grab that would be indistinguishable from Cara Dune.

Hell, they could use that as an opportunity to bring in someone like Kyle Katarn (NOT as a Jedi, since in Legends he only became force sensitive after jumping into a Force nexus, which goes entirely against new canon and the idea that you have to have a high M-count to channel the Force).

There are lots of other characters in the books and in Legends that could make a comeback. Cara Dune isn't needed.

Gina had something good, and she shat on it. I don't see her being shunned as a bad reaction. She was ungrateful and rude to the fan base, and that reflects poorly on Star Wars.

Of fark off. The Mandalorian wouldn't exist without Kathleen Kennedy making the deals, greenlighting the show, and giving Filoni and Favreau the resources and room to create.

I don't know why I need to keep saying this: YOU DO NOT WANT FILONI OR FAVREAU TO HAVE KENNEDY'S JOB. She does the business stuff. She sits in boardrooms and talks to people. She makes connections with partner companies. She gets Disney to give them the budget for projects she pitches on behalf of guys like Favreau. If you put Favreau or Filoni in her job, then they're not doing the creative stuff anymore. They're stuck handling the business end of the company.

Kennedy is responsible for The Mandalorian. She is responsible for the final season of The Clone Wars. She is responsible for Rebels. She is responsible for Rogue One. She isn't a creative asset; She's a business asset who has some creative input.

She has produced some of the best movies ever made. Like what?

Back to the Future I, II, and III
The Goonies
Gremlins
Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Schindler's List
E.T.
The Color Purple
Arachnophobia
Jurassic Park
The Sixth Sense

Just to name a few.

Anyone railing against her because they didn't like The Last Jedi is showing their idiocy and their misogyny. Seriously, STFU about Kennedy. Without her guidance and work with Disney, you wouldn't have gotten The Mandalorian at all.

And even if it is true, Gina Carano made her bed.  I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt but she just kept digging the hole.  Her career prospects aren't my problem.

The belief that a specific group of people does not deserve human rights and/or dignity is on a different plane from beliefs about the best economic policy for the country.

And that belief gets people killed. Oooo, scary.

Doesn't matter if you personally like her or not.  Simply put, those people she hates watch shows too, and it pays some of the bills.  If the company loses money due to your hate then you've killed off the profit that paid you.  You've essentially fired yourself.

As we all know, putting women and blacks in movies is a radical leftist plot to destroy white men. Or something. I don't know. It's all explained in a series of 3 hour YouTube video narrated by a sarcastic young white male.

Yea because George Lucas was so deft and subtle with his political statements in Star Wars.  Kathleen Kennedy also doesn't write any of the Star Wars material.  I don't think you could name a problematic political opinion Star Wars has put out in the last five years.

I always say people are entitled to their opinions, but if I don't agree with them, to continue to support them is a quiet endorsement of those views.

I've lost friends who, thanks to social media, have outted themselves as homophobic or racist etc.
I don't agree with them, I think it's disgusting, and to maintain a friendship with someone who has a fundamental difference in morality as me would be simply endorsing their viewpoints and/or putting my head in the sand!

I think they just go by whatever they think the woke crowd wants. I actually feel really bad for John Boyega, he got it from idiots who were sure black stormtroopers couldn't be a thing (racist AND stupid), and Kennedy who built him up and then let Rian Johnson take his legs out form under him. I think they pay a lot of lip service to "women" and "minorities" but failed to let them actually shine in the movies. Brienne of Tarth got built up...never delivered. John Boyega...same. Daisy Ridley was terrible, she picks up a lightsaber and is better than a dude who was personally trained by Luke?

The writing was what failed these people, not their acting skills. It's all part of a move to make Star Wars "woke". Just like the new "High Republic" series, whose writer has said some thing I consider to be straight racist.

I think it's more that the characters and storyline were so poorly written that it felt like pandering more than anything. It's unfortunately an easy to make but racist conclusion to come to. Like Rose Tico for example. Her character contributed nothing to the story due to poor writing, but it becomes easy for people to claim she's only in there to check off the Asian female double woke word score.

I fully blame the fans who had a hissy fit, to the point of actively threatening her, for her drastically reduced role in RoS. Them being upset that women who weren't Leia were given speaking roles also forced undermining a lot of Johnson's better ideas. Sure, Kennedy and Abrams caved, but they had almost had no choice.

/Although I blame Johnson for Poe not getting spaced for insubordination, or at least tossed in the brig for the rest of the movie, at the beginning of TLJ like he should have been.
