Have they looked into blaming Antifa? It's all the rage these days.

They even named their mask after the most famous year in Texas history. Meet the 1836 mask. Remember the Alamo.

You can't spell "slaughter" without laughter.

RaceDTruck: gar1013: RaceDTruck: The voice of the free market has spoken.  Get competitive or get out.

Can we outsource your job to somewhere?

Probably

Excellent.

Unless you are willing to work for less than someone overseas, let's go ahead and make your employer more competitive.

Bonus:  if you employer looks hard enough, they might be able to find someone that can source some slave labor to help out.

In fact, we should have China build our military weapons. Think of the money we'll save.

tyyreaunn: FTFA: There's also that nagging issue of price. The two guys bid $2.50 for each mask for the county's 100,000 mask order.

Also FTFA: Last week, the company began selling directly to the public ... The smallest order is a pack of 20 for $45.

So, they're charging more per unit for a bulk order than they are for small orders on their website?

Yeah, methinks the problem is less "Chinese competition" and more "greed and general incompetence."

I'm going to go big on "incompetence" being a problem, considering the picture right at the top of this ad/article has those 2 bozos absolutely barefaced on the floor of their farking production line!

One of them is so close to the masks getting packaged all he has to do is lean over and he could lick the damn things, and they're just standing there spewing freedom particles out of their patriot holes without a care.

Yes, but it was a bit part.  You could have sprung for a starring role, 8640 for $12,528.00

runwiz: Just checked their website.  The 20-pack is sold out.  I guess this article did its job.

Advertisement as news? Someone should write a book chapter about that.

What's your problem? These guys just wanted to slap a nationalist label on a product they don't know anything about or believe in, sell it at a huge markup to the government, and come out of the pandemic rich. If they had been successful at their grifting, Trump would have given them the Medal of Freedom.

And the trade deficit is a useless metric. The way trade is measured is stupid.  Apple employs thousands of engineers, accountants, designers, project managers, and marketers making $100,000+ salaries to create an iPhone.  This mass of skilled labor allows an iPhone to be slapped together by teenagers from rural Chinese villages.  The phone is sole for $1,000 dollars and is considered to be a trade deficit against the US because of where it was put together.  That's an outdated way of measuring value add.

Rapmaster2000: Their pitch seems to be just buy American, but that has limited appeal on a disposable, commodity product.

My family spent the 80s buying only American cars out of national pride and that got us nothing but crappy cars.

Well, it also prevented the trade deficit from growing and helped keep the people employed who made the cars.
