GOP obstructing progress despite calling for unified action? I'm shocked

"GOP centrists". Is that like, the ones who weren't directly involved in the planning and execution of a failed coup but only provided aid and comfort? Ones that only hate nonwhites on alternating Thursdays?

On second thought, the Democrats should 'exterminate Republicans.'

I'm pretty strongly in the camp of "institutionalists" who favor at least trying to keep these things we've had for very centuries. But if ever there was a time to kill the filibuster, it is now.

It might come at a heavy price in the midterm elections, but I don't see another option. The Republicans are not a loyal opposition party. They seek to obstruct anything and everything.

Nuke the motherfarkers and pass the bill. Do it again and again and again as you need to pass things. Learn the lessons of the Obama Administration. Pass things that can help Americans and then make your case at the next election.

Let's do this.

Republicans think bipartisanship means "both parties agree to do whatever Republicans want." Democrats will never get anything done until they understand this and stop waiting for Republicans' approval.

Marcus Aurelius: We all knew the GOP hated America.

It's just that they've always loved money first and foremost. (And don't forget power.)

They don't hate America, they simply find its citizens an impediment to their pathways.

Never negotiate with terrorists, the republican party is a terrorist organization and until they are treated as a group set to attack and overthrow the Constitution progress can not be made. Dems tried making nice and republicans responded by burning a cross on the national Mall.

You'd think democrats would've learned something after republicans spent the better part of a decade trying to destroy their own healthcare plan just because democrats co-opted it in a good faith attempt at being bi-partisan.

Or perhaps that there was a lesson to be taken, albeit a small one, from the Republicans fomenting insurrection and calling for their deaths.

With still serving republican members planning and assisted on the attack with a mission to murder democrats. Unless republicans remove the criminals and terrorists in their party the entire party has to be ignored for governance.
/Republicans are still lying and calling for the overthrow of Constitutional democracy.

'moderate republican' means they question their own party to make themselves look bipartisan before they vote exactly in line with the rest of their party

it has nothing to do with actually being bipartisan and working with the democrats.  it's all about appearances, no substance ever intended

I was about to post that my Senators wouldn't vote for that. Then I realized I have two new Senators. And I smiled a little.

Collins and Murkowski need to be shot from a cannon towards the sun. Mittens needs to be smacked back to reality.

The economy runs on money, but if you give people with no money some money for the economy, it benefits. But the economy does not like getting poor people hand out money.

Only rich people hand out money does the economy prefer.

When was he supposed to consult you? When you were huddled in the tunnels under the Capitol getting away from Donnie's mob? During his Inauguration? It's the third day of his term. That's almost as laughable as the idea of impeachment on his first day.

Negotiating with these clowns will only lead to pie in the face.

Don't give them an inch, give them handcuffs

they need to do what the republicans do - make it look like you are the ones reaching out and being bipartisan when you're actually doing all you can to fark the other side over the whole time

Republicans still suck. They're just Nazi light.

This is all part of the dance.  Biden offers bi-partisanship and gets rejected.  This opens the door to booting the filibuster.

The GOP telling everyone to "meet in the middle" means to put the ball on the Dem 5-yard line.

Fark those assholes. And since I haven't reached the Rand Paul thread (saw it on USA Today), fark him too.

Time to

a) enact the Covid bill via budget reconciliation

b) reinstitute the talking filibuster.

(I know there's a lot of people on Fark that are in favor of killing the filibuster entirely but I think that's incredibly short sighted.  This is a better option.)

thanksagainandagain: Elegy: [Fark user image image 425x617]

You forgot that he cited an insurrection whose purpose was to directly interfere with the electoral process.

Oh. Wait.

See this is the kind of lies told by the left that keep the GOP from compromising. How can you ask for peace, but say he incited insurrection just because he specifically invited members of armed militias to the White House and held a rally in which he instructed them to do the thing they immediately did, which he had been justifying for months with blatant lies, which the GOP also repeated?

He said peacefully, once, during the speech. That's basically like a double plus immunity spell.

2021-01-23 6:11:39 PM
There's a simple way to get around this problem: kill the filibuster.

If Democrats won't, then enjoy four years of Republican obstruction, and whatever horror show candidate is the Trump 2.0.

Look jack ass, stop being an idiot. You went here on Fark and declared how all "moderates" were against Trump impeachment (which was a lie) and you go on and on again and again about supposedly what everyone else believes that you completely make up in your head.

Maybe you should listen to people instead of telling everyone else what you want to pretend they believe.
