Make it a federal law that they get 5 years in prison for not wearing a mask indoors and refusing to put one on.

This will end quickly.

The legislature can possibly do that. I'm not sure the executive order violation punishments can go beyond what is already on the books.

Anyhow, I'm going to be sitting back with my popcorn for several weeks now, because this is the constitutional authority battle I have been waiting for.

Biden could issue a proclamation or an EO declaring that people shouldn't drink antifreeze, and thousands of GOP voters and a non-zero number of GOP elected officials or appointees will drink up, just to spite him.

What reality does the writer live in where there was a chance that Republicans would work with Biden? They weren't willing to accept the election results for no reason other than he won. How does that add up to them putting aside their differences for the greater good?

We in CA already know what will happen.

1. Mandate mask wearing and distancing.
2. Dickweed sheriffs make a public announcement that they won't enforce shiat.
3. The "mah rights" crowd posts photos of defiantly gathering their extended family for dinner, or throwing a pot luck BBQ with their neighbors.
4. Covid numbers spike, and hospitals scramble to meet the demand for ICU beds, and make generous offers for floating nurses to come help.
5. The "mah rights" crowd claims the problems clearly show that mandates don't work.

It's looking like the unity is out the window and they will be suing Biden if he so much as blinks. That asshole did file the papers to impeach him but McCarthy (I think) said he wouldn't support it but the very action speaks volumes.

And all we have seen since before he won the electoral vote in is resistance to every word he says. He is going to have a rough term even with the majority in Congress.

We desperately need to get it through their thick skulls that wearing masks is beneficial to themselves, and the community.

Especially since this is looking like it may be our new normal.  I heard on NPR that initial testing on the South Africa Covid19 mutation shows resistance to at least one brand of vaccination.  It's only initial testing, and if I remember correctly, they only tested it against one vaccine, so maybe there's still hope, but that still doesn't sound good at all.

This virus has a higher mortality rate than the flu.  We're coming up on half a million dead from C19 in a little over a year.  If it keeps mutating to be more transmissable, and more vaccine resistant, masks will become a way of life for possibly years to come.

Let's get this straight out into the open, the right to life, the life is so precious (but they love war and capital punishment even if a few mistakes are made) are actively fighting against something so #*@&$ simple as wearing a mask in public.

OK then, if requiring a mask is overreach, then requiring anything worn is overreach. I want to start a GoFundMe campaign to hire porn, strippers, nudists, and anyone else who wants to participate to protest outside of (R)epugnant offices, churches, etc.. IN THE NUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE. 20 people proudly holding signs standing in front of a church on Sunday is what I want to see happen. Protest outside the homes of these (R)epugnant deplorable people.

During WWII US citizens put up with rationing, scrap metal drives, bomb drills, curfews even. Heck, we even laugh at Bugs Bunny when he shouts, "TURN OUT THAT LIGHT!" For years. Plus the draft. And folks did it, for the most part, without reservation, and those that did balk were publically shamed. It was one's patriotic duty for the country.

Now we can't jackholes who shout about patriotism and 'Merica, but can't do literally the least tiny thing to prevent the spread of a Gottverdammt epidemic because "Freeeeeedom!" and because some genius within the GOP realized that ignoring the plague was a bad call, but if they just made being lazy and inept normal, they'd seem like heroes to the Crazy Train, and boy howdy could they get money out of those rubes.

Patriotism isn't all pride, it's also about duty. Responsibilities. You don't earn any of that pride just riding on the backs of those who came before you, you gotta do something yourself. You have all these freedoms, but in return you have responsibilities to your fellow citizens too. And these yabboos can't even get that. They can't even seem to ken that acknowledging OTHER citizens' existences and equality of rights is even part of their duty as citizens. Freedom means, "I do what I want" but damned if there's anything remotely looking like sacrifice or duty to anything but themselves.

For the Party of Responsibility, the GOP has really abandoned any concept of accepting any sort of responsibility for their actions, their policy, even their duties as citizens. And if even common courtesy impinges on what they wanna then f*ck that sh*t, I'm an American! That means I win! Every time. Except America doesn't always win. But damned if folks are going to acknowledge that, or even try to clean up their messes. These are people who sh*t on a public toilet seat and say, "someone else will get that" and go on their merry way, without even a thought.

And that's really the attitude. "Someone else will get that." Someone else will clean up the deficit we ran up. Someone else will take care of this plague we exacerbated and spread, someone else will move so the ambulance can get through, someone else will deal with that ton of snow that blew off the roof of their car, someone else can pick that sh*t up. Because FREEEDOM!

It's not patriotism that drives them, it's pure selfishness, and even toddlers learn to share, but not these folks. They grew up stunted and small, or worse, they adopted it because it was easier and it became their brand and they saw profit in it, after growing up knowing better.

You can't even call them children, because even toddlers learn to share. Kids cooperate. They take turns. They can do their chores. These cats? They can't even be bothered to wash their damn hands or put on a mask, and they want the power to fulfill their own selfish desires, and impose their stupidity on others and "FREEDOM" is their magic word to make opposition to their selfishness go away.

The tipping point will be insurance policies.

Within 12 months, expect to see an exclusion applied to *any* form of personal or property insurance that basically says, "No mask, no Vax certificate, no standardized hygiene: no coverage".

Going to have to wait on that, even with masks gathering together like that is just going to spread the virus, which is what they will claim while holding a Superb Owl party. Also, north of the Mason-Dixson line is a little cold this time of year. We are talking nipples that can take out eyes and frostbite in places that are not far worse than fingers or toes to lose.

These are the sort of people that want to meet their God, GOP Jesus, and take everyone with them. They'll just blame Biden for not doing enough since he had the vaccine right when he took over and all he had to do was get it in people's arms. These are not bright people and they listen non-stop to media feeding them misinformation that tells them all the problems are the fault of the liberals and that God's plan can only be carried out by the GOP.

They aren't going to change their behavior or out look on the world. Best to engineer around the idiots since you can't fix that level of stupid, just mitigate the damage it causes and try to improve the next generation a little.
