Being murdered via traffic accident remains steady.

Urban Meyer is in town though, so expect the murder rate to climb.

From your perspective as the victim? Sure.

But also, how are you able to post this question? Are you possessing someone right now?

I'd hate to be slightly murdered.

I'm going to guess that the Sheriff that published that is elected. No other way someone that stupid could get into that position. Where would murder account for more deaths than traffic? A maximum security prison perhaps? A war zone?

Is that supposed to be incentive to live there. "Hey, we have very few killers here, unless you count the lousy drivers". No thanks.

So like every single city in the world?

Only in Murica being murdered is more dangerous than being hit by a car.

Seriously.
I mean, whoever drafted that was thinking about the likelihood of death by accident, but the comparison is really inappropriate.

The only situation where it would be appropriate is in a location where people are really afraid of murders than they are of accidents, and if that's the case and you're the sheriff, really, hand in your badge because you are doing a lousy job.

It would be impressive if they got the death by traffic rate low enough for it to be the case.

I'd vote for him.

If they game the numbers by not arresting serial killers, not so much.

And, if you aren't an illegal drug user, illegal drug user's significant other, drug dealer, drug dealer's significant other, drug dealer's security or mule, drug dealing gang/mob member, and/or a confidential informant in a drug case, your chances of being murdered are almost zero.

The real question is whether or not you're more likely to be eaten by a polar bear.

Having lived in Jacksonville and driven back and forth between San Jose Blvd and Downtown, the murder rate must be low because Jacksonville has a much traffic as metro Atlanta.

/unless they finally finished construction on 95 and JTB

They finished that about 2 years ago. Right now they are still working on the I-95/I-10 exchange.

Social disenfranchisement and systemic racism curiously missing from this list.  How weird is that?

Not counting murder by vehicle, that's the way it is here in the former meth capital of the country.

JagsSuckVile *is* a gods damned war zone: over 600 shootings in 2020, 233+ actually resulting in deaths and those are just the ones that got reported. I have born witness that time and again, violent shootings don't actually always make the headlines in News4Jax or Tabloid12.  Worse, they have one of the highest hit & run kill rates in the south especially for bicyclists.

Now to top that off, they have the worst traffic between Atlanta and Miami; Orlando makes you wait longer on the I-4 parking lot but Jax is far more dangerous. The sad truth is he's not entirely wrong. I'm moving back for work and for family but I absolutely refuse to actually live in that shiathole.

Jaxsuckvile: a murder a day guaranteed or your money back. A hit and run a week and they will never be solved.

There were 176 murders in Jacksonville in 2020, up from 162 in 2019. Meanwhile, Duval County (which is basically Jacksonville) has had 857 Covid-19 deaths.

There have been around 14,000 to 15,000 murders in the US each year, while Covid-19 is now killing 23,000 per week.

I have spent a lot of time in Jax.  It is a lovely little city on the river with absolutely jack shiat going on.

Only two decent restaraunts, both owned by the same guy.

That number is low, for both. Remember: there is an unspoken standing order from the "mayor" that any news that makes Jaxsuckvile, and by default the Republicoont party, look bad is to be buried. The murder rate is phenomenal but it gets swept under the rug. So is the Covid death rate.

Ahh, yes, ' the Bold New City of the South.'

Cassat Ave. is the used car mecca of the south. 20 or more dealers in 3 miles from San Juan to Beaver.
Buy a new car, crash/total it, buy a crappy car, rinse, repeat.

Also, residential aside, metro Jax has no square intersections. 3-5 streets coming together at weird angles.

Or if you happen to be collateral damage from being nearby any of these situations. Your risk may vary.

Worst Bastards Church, downtown. Their public relations amount to "Fark you, it's our way or the highway".
