eurotrader: Just ignore it and tell them it was done yesterday anyway

Do it today and it gets release Monday.

The taxes can be subpeoaed  now with immediate effect. The FBI could have them later today.
The order, which is not against the House, is set to expire on Feb. 5. it is just a religious nutjob Judge trying to give trump time to flee

I'm OK with this - Trump stewing for 72 hours knowing he can't stop it, and wondering what items in them will he be taken down for.

OdradekRex: I'm OK with this - Trump stewing for 72 hours knowing he can't stop it, and wondering what items in them will he be taken down for.

I think the 72 hours is more about giving Trump an opportunity to sue to not release the records than anything else.

Not that he has any decent lawyers anymore.

2021-01-22 6:34:08 PM
Does he say what language the notice has to be given in?  How about Klingon, or Welsh, or Hungarian (most appropriate) or secret code.

Also, another judge can overrule this because laws.

Y'all who kept saying nothing was going to happen need to step back and watch all the things happen at once.

I don't care about prosecuting Trump nearly as much as I would like to see his assets depleted and seized for everything he has done.

It will hurt him a lot. And it will destroy his grifter clan of a family. And the level of proof needed to hit him hard is lower.

2021-01-22 9:00:08 PM
Ha, send it by regular mail before Biden fixes it again.

2021-01-22 9:10:14 PM
In all honesty, at this point, I am wondering why Donnie is still in the country. Seriously.

2021-01-22 9:12:43 PM
72 hours is what they give people who are under a 5150

2021-01-22 9:13:56 PM
Just ignore it. Last administration proved that court orders don't matter as long as you control the executive branch responsible for enforcing them.

2021-01-22 9:14:24 PM
So why haven't Dumps tax returns been released yet? Is there still a hold up in court?

Scotland told him to fark off.

I would be surprised if they were the only country he tried.

Release them immediately anyway. There won't be consequences for releasing them. Is Trump going to have Rudy sue you?

I get that reading TFA is against tradition, but did you at least skim the headline?

Can the judge justify interfering with the administration? Can't he be sanctioned for that? Reaching into the administration and trying to control it because some private citizen doesn't like it sounds like serious business.

2021-01-22 9:17:48 PM
Well, in the span of over four years, what's three more days gonna really accomplish.

/if he flees the country, then good riddance.

Place a RICO charge.

Freeze all his family's assets.

Watch as he can't make payments for the loans he has due.

2021-01-22 9:21:06 PM
Why should they get 72 hours?  His lawyers already know what's in his taxes, or they should.  What do they have to prepare for?  I see no actual reason for this delay.

2021-01-22 9:22:30 PM
What about that audit?  You know, the one that's been going on for 4 years now... lol

Why should he get this? You dont get this, noone else gets this.. the law doesnt have exceptions saying 'oh people should get plenty of warning to stop the law being enforced'.

farking horseshiat overreach.

A RICO seizure won't make him unable to make payments as much as his current lack of money to pay many of the loans he has. He is broke and a seizure will not make him any less broke.

Trump's lawyers expressed concerns that the Biden administration could provide House Democrats with Trump's tax returns without giving them advance notice and a chance to have their claims heard.

So a preemptive defense? That is kind of... interesting.

I mean look at it, young ex president, in the parlance of our times.  No country wants him.  He owes money all over town, including to known pornographers, and that's cool, that's cool.  I'm saying he's got nothing and nowhere to go so of course he's going to try and hide the truth.  He's gotta feed the narcissism monkey, I mean, uh - hasn't that ever occurred to you, man? Sir?

Let's say I'm a lawyer. Hmm. I'll get stiffed on the bill. Any argument I make will make look like a bufoon because it is literally the word of law I am fighting against. In addition, it will only help me add Trumper clients (who generally can't afford me), and will hurt my billing of legitimate clients...... Hard pass.

or get some flunky to leave it on the copier

2021-01-22 9:27:30 PM
It makes sense because the cops always give 72 hours notice before executing a search warrant.

I can't imagine what incredibly ridiculous and partisan legal argument this judge made to justify something so stupid. How does releasing his taxes, as required by law, harm the Orange Traitor if there's no notice given?

Well, he can't go to any country that has an agreement with Interpol. He can't go to any country with an extradition treaty with the US. Also, he would need a country that would agree to let him live there. That narrows the options by quite a bit.

Don't forget a country without COVID travel restrictions. Y'know... that he's also directly responsible for causing, now that most of the world isn't accepting travelers from America.

Just say for the last 72 hours they've been on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying 'Beware of the Face-Eating Leopard'.

2021-01-22 9:31:26 PM
release them anyway and fight the contempt changes.  the law is quite clear on the matter

2021-01-22 9:31:38 PM
I doubt the 72 hours is lawful. The unlawful thing was not turning them over when they were initially requested. Treasury doesn't get to deny the request under ANY NORMAL ADMINISTRATION, so Biden should uphold the status quo and have Treasury turn his taxes over immediately. This isn't a matter for the courts, as the law is already very clear on the subject.

True. Also, they could cite numerous video appearances showing him ignoring protocol.

Flee how? He's got a detail, no?  Can he just tell them to go away?

Great thread, lots of solid reminders of what we already knew but it's good to review: Trump got elected without releasing his tax info, Trump promised to put assets into a blind trust but then admitted he didn't know what that was and was getting his kids to run his hotels, his hotel businesses and resort businesses are in deep deep shiat thanks both to Trump's management style and his failure to manage COVID as Prez, he's got debts which he has to repay but won't be able to, and his tax returns may well be leaked revealing he's basically insolvent.

Karma is a farking biatch. If Trump had successfully lost in 2016 he'd be in much, much less shiat than he is now. Ironically, if Trump had proclaimed election irregularities in 2016 and insisted on handing over to Hilary, he'd be literally hundreds of milions better off right now because COVID would have been less of a bastard and his supporters would still have supported his businesses anyway.

So don't be like Donny, quit while you're ahead rather than take on a job you're entirely incapable of, it's the difference between dying wealthy and dying hundreds of millions in the red.

"We no longer have any depository relationship with him," said Banks United, without giving reasons for its decision to shutter the accounts.

Another Florida bank, Professional Bank, last week announced that it would be cutting ties with Trump, saying it would no longer conduct business with the former president or his organizations.
