Pansexual?  Cast iron, or non-stick?

I didnt like her shiatty attitude and never used her.

....Not that anyone would use anyone other than Garus and Legion..

No no no.  It means she's in love with bread.

Captain Jack never had this problem but I don't think a lot of people watch Fox News in the UK.

I actually don't like ME2 the best. Shock horror.

It does some interesting things, but half the point of BioWare games is the interaction with the squadmates. The vanillafication of romances really shows for Femshep.

Garrus and Thane are great characters, but the attitude about sex and intimacy was really high school. If you watch any youtube cut of the Jacob romance, she comes across kind of predatory.  I felt like Samara could have been down for a fling. And I couldn't romance Tali, who has a really good arc in ME2.

And you can't be poly, which stinks.

Good thing mods exist.

FFS, the Mass Effect 'controversy' was so gawddammed hyperbolic. A perfect example of just how shiat Fox News is.

Let's look at the game BioWare put out between between Knight of the Old Republic and Mass Effect; Jade Empire

Male-Dawn Star (m/f)
Male-Silk Fox (m/f)
Male-Dawn Star-Silk Fox (m/f/f)
Male-Sky (m/m)
Female-Sky (f/m)
Female-Silk Fox (f/f)

Nothing from 'concerned parents' or conservative media.

Farking dipshiats...

Jack was way too mentally farked up for me to justify pursuing her and frankly I question anyone who did feel comfortable doing so. Girl didn't need a boyfriend, she needed a friend. It's one reason I loved Mass Effect. It was one of the first games to really make me give a shiat about party members as more than just meat shields for my player character.

Hmm. I was always a lady Shep, and didn't actually notice. I skipped over Jack a lot in protest of the fact that she was an invincible psionic god-queen during cutscenes and a meh piece of cannon fodder when on your team.

This controversy was so overblown by Fox News that Jack farkin' Thompson wasn't buying it.

Still amazes that blowing people's heads off and doing all sorts of unruly stuff is ok, but they draw the line at who's screwing who. It took to the 3rd game to have a m/m option, and f/f options have been around since the first game. BW had f/f options since KOTOR, and m/m since either Jade Empire or the first Dragon Age.

Jack, hated her when the game first came out. Recent playthrough actually gave her a chance. She is a terrible squadmate, but biotics in 2 were not impressive, frankly. However I warmed to her, and she is still abrasive and not great but I appreciate the character now. The outfit still irks me, especially going into places with no atmosphere and imminent battle and she's wearing the boob strap and a facemask. Really now.

Duck_of_Doom: but biotics in 2 were not impressive,

Reave is the exception here.  Once I got that skill for Shepard, I don't think I used anything else in any fights for the rest of the game.

That would explain why Mass Effect: Andromeda keeps trying to make me kiss EVERY DAMNED CHARACTER I encounter.

They're on my team; I don't dip my pen in company ink, Nexus.

Haha - she was my romance choice in male Shep playthrough. Seemed the way to go since we were all likely to die.

Meh. Like most edgy girls, she was a dead fish anyway.

Tali (w/same sex mod). That is all.

FemShep >> BroShep

Honestly I always preffered the gameplay and armor system of One more than the other two.

The story is so much better in 2 and 3. Minus that whole pesky "everything you have done will effect the ending" lie we were told.

Now when I pay for the remaster I at least have proper expectations.

/still have no idea what more I could have done to get the Paragon Illusive Man set of dialogue at the end of 3

My favorite highlight of that was Saints Row 2.

Fully nude main character has a massive censor mosaic over the entire torso (for female, I don't remember male). Said character could use a chainsaw and swing it into the crotch, vertical cut and exit via head.

But the nudity needs the censorship... there are so many things wrong here.

Me too. Even if it's a pain in the ass to find good quarian armour for Tali. Pinnacle Station was good for that, though, provided you get the guy's apartment.

I like the granular control.

I think it's the same as Saren -- you gotta use Paragon options every time you talk to him.

I kind of liked 3 for that. 1 was great, but insanely granular. 2 was way too far the other direction. 3 was a nice compromise. I'm ok with the granularity of 1, but it did get tedious occasionally.

Before the "let's correct the endings" patch was released, you didn't need it every time, as I managed to get the Paragon Illusive Man ending then.  After the patch, they upped the requirement that extra little bit that my save no longer could pull it off.

Still think there should have been an achievement if you convinced both major enemies to off themselves via dialogue...

Yeah, I have to agree with that analysis.

Tonally, the first game has more variety, which I appreciated. I really liked finding the abandoned camps and collectibles, the pirate gang fights, etc. The big story planets felt different from each other. It makes the story missions feel more special.

ME2 felt way more pared down, in a bad way, though that's somewhat less of an issue if you have the DLCs. Also, the countdown clocks in ME2 mean I've always played it in basically the same order because I prefer to have certain squadmates available for certain fights.

I actually liked a lot of things that 3 did gameplay-wise, especially variety of settings, particularly if you have the Leviathan and Citadel DLCs.

The overall "it's sad and grim and has lots of death so it's meaningful" bent got tedious pretty fast--I had a headdesk moment when the cute reporter girl from the first game, Emily Wong, died in a Twitter tie-in of all things. Bleh.

That was also an issue with ME2, it's so constantly grim that the effect rapidly loses punch and it ends up bland. "Sure, you plugged your brother into the torture machine that gouges holes in him and keeps him strung up with hoses shoved in his mouth like a hentai, sure, that's how human beings think. Yeah, Jack will just up and reference getting raped and murdering her rapists in the prison where every prisoner was kept in isolated cells, sure, yeah, that makes sense." Blehhhh.

I heard the multiplayer on ME3 was awesome, so I gave Andromeda's a try but thbttttt. I actually played through that game a bunch of times, once it had been patched up. Not fantastic but not terrible, fun combat, but the MQ was blehhhhh.

I did appreciate the Vintage Heatsink gun mod in ME:A, though, because "thermal clips" are dumb.

I use her as a key companion, along with Garrus, on every playthrough of ME2, she's o e of my favorites.

But, anyone who follows the romance path with her is taking advantage of a very broken person. Given her perpetually institutionalized status can she even give consent?
