Petit_Merdeux: raerae1980: Angry Drunk Bureaucrat: raerae1980: Trump weakened environmental standards, so those mills were back to destroying the air.   Ash was falling from the skies again, after almost 35 years of NOT doing that.

Well, it was the Clairton Coke Works, not the mills.  You can smell the stench all the way up river on weekends.

*nods*  My inlaws are in Port Vue, and i seen the ash with my own eyes during our last visit.  Horrific, i never experienced that growing up in WM.

I've had you farkied as a fellow jagoff, but you may (have been) even closer than I thought. My wife's aunt & uncle live in Port Vue. I've spent almost every Christmas there since we have been married.

And there are those days the place just stinks. When I mention it to the aunt/uncle, they say they don't even notice. I have seen the plumes of Freedom Smoke when we drive by that plant.

My dad worked for US Steel until the 80s when he was laid off. But he worked dahn tahn, not in the mills n'at.

Yep, inlaws are in port vue, and im from the Kennywood Park area.  Homestead, Munhall, McKeesport...all old stompin' grounds.

shroom: Jake Havechek: Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg quipped in an apparent reference to Cruz's tweet: "So happy that USA has finally rejoined the Pittsburgh Agreement. Welcome back!"

***************

Ha ha, stupid ass Cruz gets burned by a teenager.

I honestly never get tired of the fact that Greta Thunberg, who is Swedish, has a better mastery of the English language than most of the Republicans in Congress.

I think being on the spectrum gives her superpowers.

He's not stupid.  He's not ignorant.  He knows exactly what he's doing.

Remember, he did this exact move with net neutrality - intentionally misrepresenting it to get a rise out of the other side and rile up his base.  Many of them don't know any better, and the ones that do know don't care.  They just fall back on supporting their leaders and repeating the lie.  They enjoy lining up behind authority and sticking it to the other side.

Pittsburgh hasn't been the city of coal smoke and iron foundry dust for decades.

And you'd think Ted would know that Biden cares about the people of Galveston and Palm Beach and other low-lying coastal areas more than Ted does.  (Also, you'd think a real estate dealer whose properties were mostly near beaches would have had a clue about that.)

MisterBill: He probably thinks the Oslo Accords are about a Toyota dealer in Norway.

Even if you celebrate Toyotathon you can still say Happy Honda Days.

Took this screenshot when visiting last year.

Ex-PAers.

I left in 84 when I joined the Navy. Came back 90-97 to attend Happy Valley, then left again.

AdmirableSnackbar: Wawa is better than Sheetz!

Still close enough (VA) to be in Sheetz country. I was amused when the local (VA) Sheetz had "Legalize beer sales!" posters on their gas pumps. I still go to Jahnt Iggle and then remember that I can't get beer there. Although the one I was in a couple years ago appeared to have a wine/beer area behind barbed wire with armed guards. It was closed, of course.

Yeah, he does look like a wiener-dog kind of guy.

Lol, *nobody* loves Ted Cruz.  Some of my fellow Texans just hate liberals more.

I mean, he's done a great job with getting the two factions to agree that we're arguing about the world championship of convenience store greatness. Nothing else measures up to either of them, and both are ours.

Although I really, really miss Wawa up here in Boston.

They've all been getting renovations. You'll be in for a treat next time you're in the area.
