Republicans have zero integrity.  I have more respect for the intellect of slime molds than Republicans.

2021-01-22 8:17:46 AM
Of course they're doing it, it always works to get Democrats to do what they want.

2021-01-22 8:19:59 AM
Next up on their hypocritical greatest hits will be

1) Curbing executive authority
2) States RIGHTS BABY!

2021-01-22 8:22:52 AM
Republicans are never ever ever in good faith

2021-01-22 8:23:30 AM
They'll yell about "small government" while begging for social media sites to be federally over regulated.  Republicans are not born, when your IQ doesn't go above 65, they welcome you to the party.

2021-01-22 8:24:58 AM
Concerned about the deficits you ran up?  OK - Let's roll back those tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy you insisted on.  All the way back to Reagan.  While we're at it, let's eliminate the upper income threshold on Social Security contributions - That solves a big problem too.

I also called the sun rising in the east this morning. I am apparently a prophet of some kind.

Morality
Godliness?
Patriotism?
Respect for the Law?
Respect for law enforcement?
Defense?
Financial Responsibility?
Family values?

Women's rights? You even refuse to treat YOUR OWN WHITE CHRISTIAN REPUBLICAN WOMEN as human beings.

YOU LOSE THE RIGHT TO LECTURE ANYONE ABOUT THESE ISSUES EVER AGAIN

Lazy. Predictable. Republican.

2021-01-22 9:08:13 AM
Deficits are a problem.  Our economy crashing beyond recovery is a bigger problem.  Interest rates will NEVER be this low again.

Now is the time to use the HELOC (deficit spending).  As long as we use it to fix up the house (unemployment insurance, stimulus, infrastructure, etc) instead of spending it on a vacation or a new TV (tax cuts for the rich), it is money well spent.

2021-01-22 9:08:22 AM
Well now that we know they're full of shiat their "concerns" can be ignored completely. They should also be reminded why nobody takes their alligator tears and hand wringing seriously.

2021-01-22 9:08:49 AM
And we should really make sure the senate goes out of its way to hear, respect, and act on the voices of those in the minority. We need to protect them and their power of filibuster that they will certainly not abuse or eliminate the moment they become the majority again. Promise.

2021-01-22 9:09:44 AM
Four years? I hope subby is not predicting a republican administration in 2026.

The pastors do tell "aw, shucks" pastor jokes about how their wives are more emotionally in tune with Jesus and way better at figuring out cooking stuff because dudes are helpless in the kitchen, though. Are you saying that doesn't make up for it?

It sure is lonely being the guy who actually cares about deficits no matter who is in power.

Destroy the Republican party.

Once again, a progressive marginal tax rate could fund quite a bit. *points to hundred billionaires* I know where there is money to shore up our economy.

Sounds like it's time to revoke those corporate tax cuts.

2021-01-22 9:14:05 AM
We cancelled "emergency funds" that were literally being poured into the ground for a useless border wall, so I'd say any revenue spending is deficit neutral for, oh, probably, four years.

and then watch as the stonks shrug and keep going up.

Lou Dobbs can have  conniption as the economy does just fine, and the world can finally put Laffer in the dunce's corner for good.

I'm not an economist and I don't know what an appropriate level of debt for the US to have is.

What I do know is that it is impossible to actually have a substantive debate about it with Republicans, because 100% of their rhetoric about deficits and debt are actually lip service, concern trolling, and bad faith arguments.

2021-01-22 9:19:29 AM
Fix the deficit! But you can't raise taxes or you will kill the economy. Also, you better not cut defense, social security, or medicare! Maybe you can take more out of that bloated school lunch program?

2021-01-22 9:20:06 AM
The only thing that's going to happen is nothing.

This has all happened before, this will all happen again. Dems won't be able to do small things and are afraid of big things, they lose Congress, then the White House, then deficits don't matter again, repeat.

Forever.

2021-01-22 9:20:22 AM
Anyone and everyone who was paying attention to what happened with Bush as POTUS, then Obama, and then Donald knew exactly what was going to happen once Biden became POTUS:

* They would suffer almost complete amnesia of what happened in the past four years
* They would blame Biden and the Democrats for national problems we're experiencing today even though those problems all started and remained unsolved while they controlled the presidency and Congress
* They would openly state that they are way more competent at handling national problems than anybody Democratic voters put into office
* They would rediscover just how awesome "fiscal conservatism" and "limited government" are, and they would completely disavow the unitary executive theory
* They would condemn Biden and the Democrats for doing things that only look like the atrocities Donald and the Republicans committed for the past four years if you looked at them through some sort of Bizarro World-funhouse mirror
* They would completely refuse to negotiate with Democrats on legislation, policy, nominations, etc. unless that negotiation consisted of Democrats completely caving
* They would name Biden and Harris the greatest enemies of the nation

They've checked off at least one box so far. I'd bet they'll check off the rest by the end of January.

Wow that took a while. 2 whole days, you guys all tired out from your big cry-fest over there?

Well since you insisted so hard, I guess we'll simply have to roll out a wealth tax and use that to pay off the national debt in full. Let's even call it the Thune-Portman-Lankford tax so everyone can remember what bigass heros you are for suggesting this oddly great idea.

Uprooting the 2017 tax cuts would help immensely as well.

And actually make it so the motherfu*kers at the top of the income brackets start actually, you know, paying their taxes instead of offshoring all of the largess they've been getting the last 4 years.

Psst...if *anyone* only cares about deficits when only one party's in office...they don't care about deficits.

Trump's actually done one good thing, though, while he's been in office--he's helped the country see just how dangerous and disingenuous the entire complicit Republican party's been for decades. Nominating and then electing such an incompetent, compromised moron has done more to help Democrats say "see, told you" to all the so-called 'independents' who have to have a bullhorn yelling in their ear that Repubs don't give a shiat about anyone but themselves.

Just wait until they try to keep Democrats from changing the time bomb in the tax code and then blame them for taxes going up, which is what the Republicans passed several years ago. The Trump tax hike is coming.

Unfortunately, he's not wrong.  Lies are still ideas, technically, especially when deliberately used as a strategy of propaganda.  They're WAY better at that than Democrats.

Did we already have the conversation about "Why can't propaganda be used for Good instead of Evil, like getting people to brush their teeth and eat their vegetables?"

The tax hike is here. Republicans govern on the fact that such an unbelievably large number of people keep their heads in their asses and just don't pay attention to simple cause and effect.
