"I knew it was there, but our country is just full of uneducated racist idiots, and that's crazy. Because of that, we're the last in everything. That said, our smart people are pretty smart. We do come up with a lot of new shiat."

Wow. That's, like, really deep, man.

It's funny listening to NOFX stuff over the years, and finding it to remain, if not become more relevant as the years pass and events happen.  It's also interesting which songs of theirs I find myself listening to more, as events happen around the US.  They've always been immature assholes, but that's just punk rock, so I get it.  But there are actually some profound observations about politics and society that seem to become more relevant as time goes on.

Regaining Unconsciousness is one that I started listening to more frequently over the last 4 years:

Is it anything like AC's "I Sent Concentration Camp Footage to America's Funniest Home Videos"?
Maybe a bit obscure. Some of their other hits like "Rollerblading is Gay" and "You Look Adopted" are a little more easier to decipher.

Honestly I'm gonna have to give those a listen cause I don't think I've heard them

but a "love song" Mike wrote talked about dying in a plane crash with the love of his life:

NOFX - Falling in love (album- So Long and Thanks For all the Shoes)
Blast oxygen masks,
Smoke filled cabin depressurize,
Don't be afraid,
Hold onto me.
We're goin down,
But not our love.
Death don't seem so bad,
When I'm with you
My only love,
So close your eyes,
Kiss me one last time.
We're gonna die,
But not our love,
Not our love.

or the other love song "see her pee" off of 45 or 46 songs that weren't good enough for our other albums:

She got lips like stereo
With the bass and treble down
She's got tits like microwaved
Burritos that explode
What I wouldn't give to see her pee
Between two parked cars
On a well lit street
5th and Main

I know you can see the influences: Chaucer, Shakespeare, among others

The old Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoon from the 1960s had a joke about how the local paper ran the same front page every day, year after year, because the headlines never changed.

The old saying claims that those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it, but what history really tells us is that it repeats itself no matter what we learn. Times change, but on the whole, people don't.

I like their music, but Fat Mike is a huge asshole. It doesn't help that he's in that awkward aging rockstar stage of life where he still dresses and does his hair like he's in his 20s. Mind you at least he hasn't gone full on crazy catlady down the street like Robert Smith of the Cure.
