Only 65.  Goddamn, Babylon 5.  Did they build the set on an ancient Indian burial ground by mistake or something?

I've only just finally gotten around to watching all of Babylon 5 in order, and that's depressing to hear.

No kidding.  And that sucks.

Damn. It. Has anyone seen Bill Mumy lately?

Damn.
In Valen's name.
The Great Maker calls another cast member home.
Delenn was one of the best written and acted roles on B5.

I worked a con years ago and got to meet her. She was very nice. Asked me for a suggestion for local food, and I gave her one. She made a point of coming over to me the next day and thanking me for it. RIP.
/Had dinner with Bruce Boxlietner at the same con and he was also very cordial
//Jason Momoa was at that con. He was uh, a bit wild

I also met her at a con.  She was charming and gracious and absolutely thrilled to be in Canada, despite the fact there was nobody at her autograph table.

Dammit, I'd forgotten that one.  Now it's space-dusty in here.

So sad. A beautiful woman; an amazing actress. The world is a little less bright without her in it.

Goddammitsomuch.

B5 for me was about good but flawed people in a flawed universe doing what they could to make it a better place.  It's been more relevant to me now than it was at the time it aired.

RIP

That's one of the many good points written in this great B5 essay.

To those already beyond the Rim.

To Andreas Katsulas, G'Kar the Prophet.
To Jerry Doyle, Garibaldi, Head of Security.
To Tim Choate, Zathras, He of the finite and wrong tool.
To Richard Biggs, Doctor Franklin of the Medical Corps.
To Stephen Furst, Vir, Emperor of the Centauri.
To Jeff Conaway, Zack Allen of the Nightwatch.
To Michael O'Hare, Commander Jeffrey Sinclair.
To Curt Lowens, Varn, the last of his kind.
To Turhan Bey, Turhan, Emperor of the Centauri.
To Bernie Casey, Derek Cranston of the Earth Alliance.
To Mira Furlan, Delenn, Ambassador of the Minbari.

We shall meet again in that place where no shadows fall.

Sword and Shield: Zack Allen of the Nightwatch

Nice. My only quibble is that I don't think Zack would want to be remembered that way.

Zack Allen... he who stood the watch even until the last of the Babylon stations went into the night.

But I've always thought that Sheridan was basically Mr. Perfect. Hell, he even came back from the dead (sort of). Commander Sinclair, on the other hand, had his PTSD.

I hope she didn't suffer too much. :(

For anyone who has HBO Max, Babylon 5 will be streaming in that service starting on Jan 26th. After getting moved around from streaming service to streaming service, hopefully this will be its final home.

And screw the Snyder Cut, I want HBO Max to throw some cash into remastering the show in HD with updated effects.

Here is the great tragedy, it was SHOT in HD in a 3:4 aspect ration and then "down converted " for broadcast.  But because there is an executive at paramount who apparently nursed a hateful grudge against JMS, none of the original masters were retained

The master are gone? That's a bummer. I thought they at least had the original live action footage still sitting in the vaults even though the CGI data is lost.

FTFY. I will take the justice of that exec meeting the Narn Bat Squad in a dark and closed room.

Mira was everything everyone else has said at cons. The weird experience I had with her is meeting with her while she was doing LOST. Usually, you bring up the current project and not retread the old stuff (B5). She kept deflecting questions about LOST and wanted to talk about B5. I got the sense she did not have a pleasant experience with that show.

first Marcus Cole knows lots, Kit knows nothing, no vetoed.

Boxleitner as Clark! What did he do to piss you off? It would work, at they could take Clark in the other route. In B5, Clark just came off as a weasel. Bruce could play the charismatic populist bastard.

I also think the casting for Delenn is a mistake. Something that made Delenn work so great was Mrs. Furlan was not a native English speaker, it it helps build credibility as an alien, if they redid B5, I wish they would follow through on this for all the alien roles, casting people who English is not their first language. Also follow up on what they did with the Centauri, they have different accents.

The shooting schedule was like 6 days principle per episode, which is very little. I imagine it was intense. Tight relationships tend to form in those circumstances. I expect the successive losses of cast members put something of an edge on it as well.

It must be great to work on a good TV show with a good cast. It's not like being a corporate drone with corporate politics and TPS reports and fights over titles and seniority and rank and quarterly pressure to hit ever-increasing numbers of some sort or another.

Of course, I'm sure there is still pressure and bad parts that most people would not know about.

Acting is also super social, too, and it rewards people who are really social.

Like, it doesn't surprise me that people who work together get married--and have affairs, for that matter.

It's like how history selects for people who like to share weird anecdotes and analyze, plus a strong impulse to wear costumes.
