My dad worked on that mission as an engineer. I still have the neat envelope with the cool insignia that he sent to me, addressed to "Mr...."

I was a baby. LOL, Pop.

+1 Joe.

Wouldn't that be a "Rock Moon"?

Thank you, I'll be here all the week. Try the veal.

Seriously tho, NASA tries very hard to be apolitical. While I am sure the senior management at NASA is privately happier with Biden than Trump, NASA as an organization will never officially express an opinion. Had Trump asked for a moon rock to display, I'm sure he would have gotten one.

The fact that Biden asked for (and was given) this symbol of what is arguably America and the World's greatest scientific accomplishment and Trump apparently did not says more about both men than it does about NASA.

Do you think Congress is going to dissolve a military branch?

You sweet summer child.

It isn't all that clear it is a real mistake.  Bits of military-industrial-complex space have been controlled by NASA, Air Force, NRO, etc.  Combining them appears long overdue, and one of the few things Trump could understand.

Also Jim Bridenstine might have been Trump's best appointment (how's that for damning with faint praise).  But even so, NASA must have been trembling in fear of him being replaced by a flat earther.

The Space Force didn't come from NASA, so how would it go back to NASA?  If the decision were reversed, they'd just put the Air Force signs back on the offices.  But a bunch of people have new important-sounding titles, and I'm sure there's some way that a bunch of new pork is being distributed, so Space Force ain't going nowhere.

I like to think they would have given him a petrified hunk of mammoth sh*t and told him it was a moon rock.

You really think they'd have gone for rare and petrified?  Like he'd be able to tell that from last month's shovelings from the elephant exhibit...
