It's too late, your husband has already fallen prey to the delusions.  I think it's best to just put him down.  You can always tell your son his dad went to live on a farm upstate where he can play in the meadows all day.

I don't' get this at all.

Most farkers are perfectly fine with Christmas and having Xmas cards, trees...and celebrating Charlie Brown Xmas special and the story it's about a child being raped by a older man, and the baby is literally raised as a lamb to be slaughtered as a human sacrifice and they celebrate that by wearing little torture device symbols and do a ritual where they eat human flesh and drink blood magically transformed from Bread and Wine into flesh and blood into LITERALLY FLESH AND BLOOD by a Magician..well ...Just fine.

But Noah Ark and Dinos they just freak out about 'science' thing

Telling him the truth is good.

Even better is giving him the tools to discern truth for himself. "How do you know that?" is a much better question than "Were you there?"

Look at it this way: Statistically your son is very likely to learn the truth on his own when he's older. He'll know whether or not you fed him obvious falsehoods (regardless of whether you thought it was true or did it to humor your husband,) and that will color the rest of your relationship. Get out ahead of that shiat.

Teach him how to analyse facts and teach conclusions by himself. You'd be surprised at how fragile religion is to critical thinking.

One of the most intelligent and educated people I ever knew, and a pretty wise person as well, grew up as a Seventh Day Adventist. He had real problems once he figured out what was going on. He was an intense Bible scholar, so he knew something was wrong before puberty, but managed to hold his tongue for decades until he finally told everyone what he really thought about the way the world works. They prayed for him and thought deep down that he was just being a narcissist. They loved him and were nice people.

I don't know if there is a moral to the story. At the very least, the kid needs to know that there are different ways that people have of thinking about things. Some people believe in things that make no sense at all. Maybe the parents should agree that at a certain age, the child should be able to choose and state a preference with no repercussions. And until then, he should discover as much about the world as possible. That kind of sounds like childhood and adulthood to me.

There are plenty of situations where married people have different values. The kid should not be punished for that in any way.

I learned at dinner tonight that my son has been watching Family Guy. I have hated that show since before he was born, but I still did my best Stewie impressions and we had a laugh. Someday I hope he realizes what empty nonsense Family Guy really is, but until then and even if we disagree, he is still my son. And I love him anyway.

Start by teaching him the many joys that science has brought us and will bring in the future. Once he has the proper appreciation he'll learn to recognise the facts and the fantasies on his own.

This.

And let's not get into the whole Easter Bunny/Tooth Fairy thing.

I guarantee your kid won't be damaged by this.  As long as he's getting both sides of the story, it will become obvious to him at some point that the whole "Earth is just 6,000 years old" thing is wrong, just like he'll realize that Santa Claus isn't real.

Yes, that's right.  Deny the humanity of the people you don't like.   Makes it easier from a psychological standpoint to send them to the camps later, doesn't it?

Um.  What?

2021-01-22 8:30:45 AM
My mother, rest her soul, was able to tell five-year old me being raised on a diet of National Geographic specials and Sunday School stories, that "maybe the name of the man Louis Leakey dug up was Adam" and that was good enough for me, until I got older and was able to understand that 1) Leakey had not literally dug up The First Man, 2) the Bible was a book of fables and not a history text, and 3) belief in god was a personal matter and not something you had to rely on old men in fancy buildings to tell you.

If your kid is interested enough in dinosaurs, keep encouraging that, and someday he'll understand that even if god made dinosaurs, it wasn't "6,000" literal years ago, and it wasn't the devil hiding bones in the dirt to test our faith. He'll understand that that is just a story people tell themselves because their faith isn't very strong.

Don't argue with your husband, though, it will confuse your son even more at this stage of his little life.

Well, that's all fine and well as people that like Family Guy, or think Jedi was a good movie don't make laws that force other people to lose their health insurance, deny health care to trans people, or fight against marriage equality.

Um.  What?

Well yeah. When I ask people who believe in the Ark story how they got every single creature on the planet, even the ones we haven't discovered yet on a boat, they say that they just put one "type" of animal. Like one type of dog, one type of lizard, etc. So when asked by what means did these types turn into all these different creatures......that's where the conversation ends because the answer begins with an "E".

I have one in my family. She's divorced, and remarried. And since she's female, even if it was because her husband cheated on her. She's an adulterous whore. Says it right there in the instruction book she follows.

Go find a quote from me where I actually endorse that.   You can't, because I never have.   It was a warning against the kind of polarizing political debate you yourself actually make:

https://www.fark.com/comments/8270456/91000447#c91000447

Vote third party, *ANY* third party, before it becomes necessary to vote from the rooftops.

That was in the context of NSA warrantless monitoring of "United States Persons", and I still stand by that.   I don't vote D or R.   Because both sides are literally wrong and bad (just on different things), and the only way to keep that from leading to its inevitable conclusion of one party eventually taking control and the other party becoming a minority that can't effectively act as a counter is to reduce the power of the two major parties and force them to form coalitions in order to rule.

But it's easier for you to lie about the people you don't like, isn't it?  And you *KNOW* it's a lie because I've pointed it out to you before.

Doesn't matter, though, right?   Because if you repeat a lie enough, people will believe it, won't they Herr Goebbels?

Ah yes, Christianity.  The belief that some cosmic Jewish Zombie can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him that you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree.

Makes perfect sense.

Dinosaur butt stuff?

2021-01-22 9:04:04 AM
Most people think the dinosaurs where wiped out by a giant comet or asteroid hitting the earth.

That simply is not true. What happened was the mammals simply replaced them.
About the time the dino's 'ruled the earth' small furry creatures also appeared---Mammals.
They were smart. And one thing they loved was dino eggs.
They'd sneak in and grab eggs from the dino nest, so they developed large brains to avoid being eaten by mama dino...and they learned to carry the eggs.

And as you all know a raw egg is pretty disgusting. So, they learned cooking. They'd roll the eggs into a hot springs to slightly cook them and retrieve them with primitive tools much like a slotted spoon.

These mammals were known as poacher.
