You know what is the worst curse of all?

Overly high expectations.

Trump set a really really low bar, but also made a huge mess. No matter what happens, I hope everyone remembers WHERE WE ARE when 2024 comes around. If Biden gets us back to where we were in 2016, I would be ecstatic, but Trump destroyed about 75 years of progress by my reckoning, so if Biden gets us to about 1968, I would call that a win.

"if Biden gets us to about 1968, I would call that a win."

At least there will have been a similar uptick in POC having voting in comparison to the previous four year period - assuming this administration takes on voter suppression.

The conservative Democrat who said "lol f*ck universal healthcare, I'll veto it" is the best equipped to handle it?

The Democrat who said Dick Cheney and Mitch McConnell are swell people and that he wants to work with Republicans is the best-equipped to handle it?

The Democrat who said "no sympathy from me" regarding Millennials struggling to barely get by is the best equipped to handle it?

The Democrat who keeps spouting "unity" is the best equipped to handle it?

No. That's a filthy f*cking lie.

This should have been a thundering shove of the pendulum back left to counter the rightward lurch of fascism over the last 4 years. And Democrats (not liberals, they are not the same) decided that this was the time for the most conservative Democrat in their ranks.

Wilson's policies actually made his pandemic WORSE. The scientists of his day were pleading with him to stop shipping troops around in preparation for our entry into WW1. He kept doing it, giving the flu densely packed trains moving between urban centers to spread through.

In some areas, yes.  The POTUS using the military willy-nilly is the most egregious offense.  However, POTUS have been ignoring their power in the Dept. of Labor to assist workers and punish union-busters.  So, we have another case of the government engaging in overreach when it hurts the people, but is profitable for the few, and then turning around and abdicating their responsibilities when it hurts the people but is profitable for the few.  So, there's a common thread in the back and forth of power and overreach versus choosing to not wield powers at their disposal.

There will be time to move to the left, but after a coup attempt, we're lucky to get back to normal before trying to take a drastic turn left. It's also only his second full day as POTUS and he will have plenty of people in his administration and Congress pushing him to adopt liberal policies.

I tried to watch an episode of West Wing once and all it made me want to do was bash Rob Lowe's smirking face in. Preferably using Aaron Sorkin's thick-walled skull.

Were liberals always this effete and clueless? My reading of history suggests otherwise but wtf do I know? Maybe they were. That's an exceedingly superficial take on what I said which is based on months of Democratic activity, what Biden has said and is saying, and how Dems have been behaving since gaining control of Congress.  He'll try harder... to make $1400 = $2000?  Notice how bold the Dems were talking when they didn't have Congress, but are now hastily retreating from their promises to help people?  That's a symptom of corruption.

When I binged through West Wing about 10 years ago, I enjoyed it immensely.  Though, as you point out, Rob Lowe's smirk was insufferable.  I thought the writing was sharp and the acting was more than competent.  The unfortunate part is that a lot of Liberals think that it represents reality.
