Good for her. Now go pressure Management to give them $5 an hour more, not $1. You have some power and popular support. Us it.

The real deal, forgoing seeing and being seen at the event of the decade to provide some local leadership and support.

AOC is about giving the people their power back.

Hopefully big business won't assassinate her. She's already on the Right's hate list.

Go AOC, go!

Teen Vogue has had some great articles over the last couple.

I know I shouldn't be as old and male as I am reading teen vogue, but I expect more out of them at this point than most of the major papers.

2021-01-22 8:11:45 AM
She was busy preparing for her own presidency.

2021-01-22 8:12:41 AM
I just assumed they gave her a seat at the Inauguration for 60 seconds and then gave the seat to Republicans.

Teen Vogue and Buzzfeed News have been remarkably brilliant for the past few years. Also, it's one publication where I don't mind if they mention a politician's footwear- kind of their thing.

Good on AOC for bringing Bustelo, too.

More Dem politicritters need to put on comfortable shoes and join picket lines, if they want to get back in touch with what being a representative of the people is like.

Anyone who thinks she's ever losing that seat are absolutely bonkers. She works so hard to not be "just another politician".

it would also go to fixing the partys power base

its not a coincidence the GOP has been most effective since eroding unions and union power in the early 80s

How are people still aware of what people they went to school with as kids think and do? I can honestly say I have no idea of how to contact any of those people not directly related to me.

There's this thing called social media.  Apparently there are whole websites and companies and everything.  I've heard that even the President uses it.

Mostly facebook.
When FB first started up it was largely advertised as a way to reconnect with old school chums.

As nice as it would have been to have her at the inauguration, and as much as people will amplify it as some sort of snub, I agree with her choice. She stood for her constituents when they needed her, rather than spend time on ceremony. That is what a leader should do.

Because she lives her values.

And because of the values she has.

This is a real thing (at least in NYC where I work with the trade unions). I have had more than one conversation in the carpenter's shanty that ended with me pulling up OpenSecrets.org, showing them how much their union donates to left-wing politicians, and thanking them for their support. Individual tradesmen tend to be conservative and usually have no idea where their dues are really going. They do love their union, though, and view it as protection from being exploited.

I see this as an opportunity for the left. These guys lean right because they get all their news from the New York Post. Having a politician like AOC show up to support a picket line that a GOP critter wouldn't get within 50 feet of sends a big message that will travel fast in that community.
