To quote from Stephen Colbert's epic WH correspondents' dinner speech "We know that polls are just a collection of statistics that reflect what people are thinking in "reality." And reality has a well-known liberal bias."

Reality has a liberal bias.

This line got weird once Republicans started using it unironically.

Name that GOP congressman so we can take a look about how they felt about Trump's Muslim ban.

As always, there's a nugget of truth in The Onion's best work, and one of its best headlines was:  "Stereotypes are handy timesavers."

Amendment 14, Section 3 sure seems to indicate so.

Go get em, Ms. Pelosi.

Yup. And a majority of Republicans in the house voted to overturn the election.

There are 211 Republicans in the House of Representatives. 139 voted to overturn the election.

2021-01-21 3:43:02 PM
I heard that this morning. The GOP guy did have a point that the total individual human votes was higher than being reported. Inskeep countered correctly though. None of that matters when you apply that to the final tally and that number shows that the GOP overwhelmingly voted to continue sticking feces into their mouths.

The interview was with Tom Reed (R-NY) who is a member of the 'Problem Solvers Caucus.' He's not the dullest tool in the shed, but it was pretty ridiculous to accuse Inskeep of stereotyping in this instance. I give Reed credit for at least pretending to find a middle ground, but right now they need to deal with he dumpster fire that has been confined to their party.

This, and it needs to be right farking NOW. The citizens support proper retaliation. The country needs it to gain world confidence going forward. If there's ANY kind of kickback on the deal, so what... reelection campaigns won't be for a couple years.

If nothing is done right now, then everything we seen the past couple weeks will absolutely happen again... except next time we might have dead congressmen to boot. There is literally NO downside to curb stomping these scum.

Let's start with Gaetz.

Anyone who voted to overthrow the election, ban them from congress.

Their district can recall them/replace them. Until then, they have zero representation. Shouldnt have elected traitors y'all.

Exactly.  Throw them out now, and make them beg for forgiveness.  If they want A14/S3 interpreted another way, let them sue up through the courts and make the Supremes say "no, inciting insurrection is ok" if they really want to.

And while that's happening, drag the backward parts of the farking country into the 21st century.

HA. That's my grandparents' old neck of the woods in Corning and the Southern Tier. Gotta say he's a pretty appropriate rep for the district.

THERE IS NO PROVISION TO RECALL MEMBERS OF CONGRESS

"As to removal by recall, the United States Constitution does not provide for nor authorize the recall of United States officers such as Senators, Representatives, or the President or Vice President..."

To be faaaaiiiir, all of those critters also show empathy, community cohesiveness, and the ability to be a productive member in a sharing society.

None of which t(R)aitors can do, so is it really a wonder that they can't get a handle on the challenging field of "basic math."

So basically 2/3rds voted to overturn.

Yeah, that would be a majority.

Math, it's hard for people who are against teaching anything but Jesus in school.

rjakobi: I'm thinking some of these reps need to be recalled immediately.

There are no mechanisms in place for recalling Federal officials.

Some states have open ended provisions that leave it on the table, but they have never been tested constitutionally.  The precedent is that states do not have the ability to impose restrictions on federal government employees.  Term limits Inc v thorton went to Supreme court and the Supreme court's opinion was that states do not have the right to dictate these things.

Though it could be done legislatively.  They could create a federal law that allows states to do that.  It would be a great idea.  The GOP is stacked with "state's rights" advocates and the SCOTUS is also 6-3 in favor of states rights above all else.

I'd love to see it happen.  It would show the hypocrisy of them pretty openly.  Would be great ammo for a political ad and judicial reform.  "Senator Cruz says he is all about states rights, but when a bill came up to hand states the power manage their own elected officials, he voted it down in favor of the BIG GOVERNMENT controlling what states can do."

It would drive libertarians nuts.

Remember that all of the older Democrats in Congress are afraid of being seen as big meanies or losing their backer cash if they think, say, or do anything untoward. Plus they're still in their "We can and must always compromise and work together with the right to prosper". Not even almost being murdered will change their minds.
