They're the propaganda arm of a fifth column.

FoxNews and Rush radicalized vulnerable Americans into committing terrorism.
They should be treated that way.

They just gutted their real new folks this week (what few they had) with a big round of layoffs, and promoted their propagandists at the same time. Bartiromo now has the primetime slot Shepherd Smith used to have.

So I'd say you're spot on.

Yeah, not nearly enough of either info or entertainment to qualify. We need a new compound word, but "libation" already means something else. "Masturganda"?

They are pretending there is a chance that Fox might not "immediately return to form" and start lying again?

Yeah, no.

Fox started lying when they first went on air and never stopped.

And they will never stop.

Stop doing the one thing they were built for?

Not happening.

Only real question is what are the Ems going to do about it?

*click*

"...that's something that we are going to think about and we're going to factor in,"

How reassuring. -_-

Yep. When Trump stated that much of the press were liars and Fake News for pushing any anonymously sourced unverifiable rumor about him, they called it "an attack on the free press".

Now we're actually here calling for the new administration to 'retaliate' on media organizations if they don't agree with the message they are pushing...

Amazing consistency.

Slippery slope. I hope they tread lightly here.  With how conservatives like to use lies to accuse the Dems of doing Bad Thing, and how predictably they suddenly justify Bad Thing Times Ten in response, significant action from the White House against media outlets could see a painful backlash from the next gaslighting tyrant. This could make America's escape from said tyrant much more difficult than this last time was.

I'm guessing not, since completely fabricated news has been ubiquitous since they figured out how to print newspapers cheaply.

Fox news, oan and newsmax shouldnt be a thing. They should get all their assets seized and every single of their anchors go to prison for aiding and abetting + conspiracy against the US. The owners should get the death penalty for treason.

I mean I'm not shocked if they've never bothered to rule on it because you can be sued for libel if you print a lie a reasonable person could believe, and they never really felt they would have to deal with 30-40% of the population being unreasonable people choosing to base their entire opinion on stories so obviously false that no reasonable person could believe it.

Also for consideration: the two (maybe 3?) newest scotus judges are firmly on the wrong side of that line of what constitutes reasonable in the first place, meaning conservative bullshiat could gain near-constitutional-level endorsement.

lol, hilarious.

That Pandora's box was already ripped open by the GOP during the Trump admin. And the American political right knows ONLY total war. They're in a constant state of doing whatever the fark they can get away with. Your suggestion is that we should do something they already did because they might do it again, and Republican voters might get angry. The same voters which most of them believe (or at least constantly screech that they do) that you and I to literally be baby killing pedos who want to destroy America, force everyone to be Muslim, and make America a huge Marxist concentration camp.

We're supposed to give any shiats that these people in a constant state of fury at not being able to oppress POC and anyone who they don't self-identify with might get.... angry? lol, what a silly thing to worry about.

Simple solution for whoever takes over the FCC: If your station hides behind an "infotainment" status, you need to put a Surgeon General's Warning on screen and in audio whenever your station does its required identification bump, telling the audience of your infotainment status and informing users that none of what you say should be taken as fact.  The warning must be on-screen for 30 seconds, and the audio message must be clearly pronounced in an unhurried manner.

Failure to comply shall result in revocation of broadcast license, seizure of broadcast/cable/satellite/streaming equipment, fines, and at least 35 lashings for each member of the board of executives, CEO, and/or founder(s), to be delivered publicly on EAS.

This presupposes that the content is both informational and entertaining.

There's nothing informational or entertaining about Fox News, Newsmax, OAN, or any other Goebbels-esque propaganda network meant to continually feed bullshiat and lies into the brains of Trumper garbage. Their raison d'être is stoking fear, hate, and anger in people who need very little stoking on those fronts. A stormfront, if you will.

Republicans can have their own news network when it actually deals in facts, not lies. Since that will never happen, they can piss off.

We have to give a shiat because the Supreme Court has been successfully and definitively stolen. That means any bold moves against the propaganda machine are likely to get shot down and cause more harm than good.

The 1/6 attack could provide a window of opportunity, but if we're talking run of the mill conservative lies over the next two years, I don't see it ending well.

Like the anonymous hearsay "suckers and losers" story?  Or CNN declaring the 1776 report was a racist document without any justification for calling it that?

Let's compare that to the NY Post story about Hunter Biden where the MSM declared actual emails 'probable Russian disinformation' despite a credible on-the-record person involved verifying their legitimacy...

As I'm sure many farkers will point out to you, my account was only created 42 weeks ago. You have no idea what I've been saying for the last 4 years.

But sure, a lot of the media is absolutely "fake news".  CNN is probably the worst offender and The NY Times is the most dangerous. This doesn't mean they'll come right out and tell you the sky is green.  Instead they'll run a story like "Blueness of sky in question, experts say" which is true if you find a crackpot with credentials  to say it. Then they play with language like "the demonstrators car then lurched into the crowd" versus "then he plowed into the crowd with his car" depending on the political affiliation of the driver.  Obviously the principal means of deception is to simply choose not to cover stories that don't fit with the narrative the want to push and to magnify rare stories that do so they seem commonplace.

Make no mistake, the mission of these organizations is to make a profit while pushing their vision for society, not to 'deliver the truth'. It's incredibly naive to think otherwise.
