The pacing of these episodes is getting a bit sluggish

lot of people who don't seem to have the patience for a slow burn shame...was kind of a nail biter of an episode.
I like Naomi a lot more than I did earlier seasons, she has shown herself to be way tougher than I would have suspected (still hate the post season 2 tatoos) I also like that she spaced herself and wasn't fine like 2 seconds later....though not clear why she couldn't leave the interior crawl space semi pressurized.

really digging where this season is going...even if it has a severe lack of Bobby Drapper in it.

also...I've not read the books, as I didn't know the show was from a series of novels until I was well into the series and now don't want to start until after the series completes as I want to be surprised by stuff.

speaking of which... I keep waiting for Bull to turn out to be a traitor....he really seems to be hell bent on getting in Holdens way.

I also have been enjoy that Monica Stuarts character has toughened up since we first met her.

LesserEvil: PartTimeBuddha: The pacing of these episodes is getting a bit sluggish

I really hated the whole Naomi subplot. It was dumb of her to put herself into that sort of trouble, and it drags on way too long.

That said, I'm not sure how they finish up the saga with one more season. They haven't even published Leviathan Falls, which won't be out until at least October.

They won't.  Season 6 is book 6.

There's a 25 year gap between books 6 and 7.

If you were going to cut out so much content from this season, why not compress two books into one.

It feels to me like this season has had more padding than others.

born_yesterday: The Naomi storyline is very...detailed.  She's not my favorite character, but I love that she's tough as nails.  This show has fantastic female characters.

And if you think Anna Hopkins is cute on this show, you should see her in the latest season of Bad Blood.

That's probably the nicest way to describe her storyline. I feel like it'd be okay to read, but watching her fumble around that ship jiggling wires just didn't do it for me on screen. The screaming and crying didn't help either, I think Star Trek: Discovery used up my patience for that shiat.

Naido: Jack Sabbath: I'm glad they revealed in the credits what it was Naomi was doing.  I tried to figure it out and felt like the world's biggest dumb shiat as it made no sense to me.

Two more episodes left for the season!

And they have done a real good job of beating the shiat out of Dominique Tipper this year, so here's a pic of her looking hale and healthy (and hanging out with Marco, the swine!)

I missed the credits, what was revealed?

Remember how she was reciting that fake distress call as she fiddled with wires in junction boxes throughout the ship? When she finally found the one that carried the distress call to a transmitter/antenna she made a few carefully timed cuts in the outgoing message to change what it said to something she wanted out there.

As the new message repeated over and over, I just got chills. I felt dumb for not figuring it out myself, but wow. She's a smart cookie.

rue_in_winter: NathanAllen: rue_in_winter: OK, so, I'm looking for new and enjoyable shows since I kind of ran through the other shows I was bingeing.

I heard some of the space traversal was good on a scientific level from an actual scientician, which often indicates an attention to detail on the showrunner side, and that could indicate a broader attention to detail on the writing part.

Plus, I love Shohreh Aghdashloo and quite enjoyed that "rain hellfire" clip. Trek fan since childhood, big B5 fan, sometimes you just want to see someone with a lot of presence threaten someone like a boss.

Should I try to convince the roomie to watch this with me? Is there anything I should brace myself for?

Yes.

To be entertained? To watch an absurd amount of coffee drunk? To see lots of furrowed brows? To say, "huh? Why aren't the subtitles translated?"

It's always been a "we only have three minutes to save the Universe" series and that translates well in the inner episode and season arcs.

Excellent, excellent. I shall begin to formulate my arguments.

It's also extremely well-crafted.  The attention to detail in set design and props is fantastic.  And there are hints planted in Season 1 that only come to fruition in Season 5.

Watch the first three episodes before deciding if you do not like the series.  Neither my wife nor I were hooked after the first.

Yeah, SF usually takes a while to hit its stride, generally I try to avoid judging the first season too harshly.

I really liked it.  It's not super action packed at times but if you like your scifi a little crunchier on the science end of things, I think you'll enjoy it.
