Musical genius is finite, clearly.

Maybe he can resolve this by going down on the old man with a transistor radio.

If some dumbass wants to pay a hundred bucks to watch this old dry fart on stage belting out "shalalalalalalalalalalalateedaa" and "ooooooooooooo-ooooooooo-eeee" then fark it, let them. But keep them locked up in that club for two weeks with plenty of supplies so as to not to infect any smart sane people

Van Morrison is grumpy?  what!?!?!??

i saw him live once and the whole show, every other song, he'd literally be shouting at the soundboard guy.  he'd walks to the side stage and angrily be pointing at his onstage monitors.  no encore either. he was pissed.

and he did a music interview a few years ago and the article starts with, "in a rare chance to interview the legend, his publicist wanred us we had exactly 60 minutes.  As you will see, Van gave us exactly 60 minutes."  the interview was pretty good but as it ends, the guy writes, "at this point, he began to offer very terse, "yes" / "no" answers and the moment we hit 60 minutes, Van stood up and said, "there's your hour, have a nice day" and walked out.

I've always wanted to see him live before he died (it was a long shot anyway... he does very very very few shows in the states) but after the last 6 months, it's abundantly clear how much of a jackass he is to the point where I really don't want to anymore.

Couple years ago, Mrs. Green and I got to see him along with Willie.  Van Morrison was on her short list and Willie was on mine.  Good times.  Van Morrison's set was disappointing.  An hour of him snapping his fingers at the bass player and drummer because he didn't like their tempo while playing stuff from a new album that nobody owned.

Willie, however, is a god.

yup, re US tours.  in 2006 my wife was about 5-6 months pregnant, and a British band I love, "Elbow", announced a US tour.  closest show was LA.  now, before she was pregnant, I'd all the time fly to LA (live in Phoenix) to see shows there.  she was like, "have fun, just means 'girls over for wine weekend' for me while you're gone."I told my wife, "honey, this is *SO* important for me.  I have to go.  and I promise, I will never leave you again for a show."  she was like, "....I'd really rhater you stay home, but......ok.  the last time."  I went.  flew saturday morning, was back home sunday afternoon.

about literally two months later, Van Morrison announced his first US tour in, at the time, 5-6 years.  Closest show was Dallas.

"uh......honey?  remember that 'this is the last time i will leave you' thing we talked about a few months ago?  Uh....can we......talk about that again?"

she was NOT happy but she let me go.

/one year later:  "Van Morrision announces new US tour."  and played here in Phoenix.  I think she went with me?   but then he kinda stopped again.

Graham Nash;
Let's not talk spiritual. Let's talk about peeing. One bathroom in a club. And there's a notice on the bathroom door;  THIS BATHROOM CAN ONLY BE USED BY VAN MORRISON

Interviewer; really, when was that?
Nash; two years ago, in Sweden

I've lost all respect for Van Morrison.  Eric Clapton, you're not far behind.

Which is a bummer, because these are musicians I've always liked and respected.  :(

His 'singing' nowadays is more like 'old man yelling at clouds'.
