TV Guidance Counselor - Ken Reid and a guest go through a TV guide and choose what they're watching for the week.

I take that one step further and actually watch the week of TV whenever I can every now and then.

I'm like that with Marc Maron.  AMAZING guests but can't stand the shtick so I don't listen long.

Before I retired I loved Coverville (https://www.coverville.com/ ).

What's funny is now that I don't have one of those pesky job things I listen to a lot more mellow stuff.  Out:  Nevermore, Metallica, Megadeth, etc.  In:  Amplifier, Camel, Caravan, Haken.

Before retiring I listened to music 8-10 hours a day (30 minutes each way driving to/from work, then 8 hours a day coding).  Now, I seldom listen to music.  When I do I have more than enough stuff I remember and love such that I don't look for new stuff.

"Time Suck" is a mostly history podcast that can be fun but gets a little too in-jokey sometimes
"You're Wrong About" and "Maintenance Phase" are both good, as seen above
"99% Invisible" talks about all of the designs around that you don't notice. They did an interesting episode on Craftsman houses
"The Constant" makes me laugh out loud. Its tagline is "a history of getting things wrong." I
"Under the Influence" is all about advertising and how it can go so right...or so wrong

I really like the History of English language podcast.

As the title says, there is a little linguistics and etymology, but the main focus is on early European History. I'm at episode 29 of maybe 150 (the Anglo-Saxon invasion of British shores in the 5th century) and I already lament the end of the series.

I'll throw in The Dollop (which is starting to get a little bit political, though I understand why) skip the first 10 minutes as it's all commercials.

Unspooled: one of the people from How Did This Get Made mentioned above and another go over the top 100 films of the 20th century, and then on to more movies. Moderately interesting movie trivia and guests.

The Amp Hour if you're into electronics and manufacturing and cool "Maker" type guests.

I just use the things to cover the ringing in my ears mostly.

I can't get into podcasts and I'm never in the car or doing anything long enough to actually listen to any.

One time on a drive recently I tried to listen to the MTV VJ podcast, and found it insufferable.

So I guess podcasts are just not for me

Some of the shorter casts are good for when you're doing dishes or shoveling/mowing the lawn. "The Way I Heard It" by Mike Rowe is a modern version of the Paul Harvey show and runs about 12 minutes. Maybe give that a try.
