Exactly what they did after W, too. And not only were they allowed to do it but just 12 years later W's administration are Democratic darlings.

Let's hope we have a more intelligent reaction than we did to W and Reagan. I'm not gonna hold my breath. Let's see it.

Had the Tea Party/Trump not come along, people like Steve Schmidt would be remembered as the person who gave us Sarah Palin.  At this point I'm still willing to give him props for standing up and consider this a "enemy of my enemy" situation.

Yeah, it was funny when Iraq went into the shiatter and then the midterm elections of 2006, suddenly every Farker who was calling you unpatriotic for supporting Bush and his war had not voted for him.

Policy makers who abandoned their dedication to "fiscal responsibility" and "limited government" will rediscover a passion for these timeless conservative principles.

Duh. Those things have proven themselves to only be bad under Democratic Administrations.

Those assholes took the Gulf War "off budget." They supported Trump out of political self-preservation and to pack the judiciary with young, poorly qualified or outright unqualified conservative ideologues. For many of them, the racism and cruelty were also the point.

As long as rich people can give them unlimited amounts of money, they will continue their assault in the rest of us.

Congress must pass and the President must sign severely restricted campaign finance laws that prevent this kind of rich-people sponsored terrorism. Tea Party, MAGA... this is all funded by rich people and crazies who want lower taxes and a pure white race and other insane things.

Grassroots my ass.

Unbelievable. "Oh hey, the same conditions and reactions that gave us W gave us Trump. Let's keep doing those same things because we all know it'll never get worse."

Also this call for political unity is horsesh*t. One party espouses revolution for the purpose of a Presidential Dictatorship and the other espouses bipartisanship. How can you be 'bipartisan' with the party of insurrectionists?? And how can you not use your power to punish them? If the Dems had done this and the GOP was in power? Mass arrests and purges would follow.

Yuuup. This was always the plan, and it's going to work. You can say "No they went too far" or "We won't let them", and believe me I hope this is the case, but if I'm betting, I'm laying my money on Ivanka being on Dancing With the Stars before there being any real, meaningful consequences for the GOP.

I have no doubt this EO, in conjunction with lifting the moratorium on federal executions, was Trump and AG Barr's plan to quell dissent after a Trump election victory.

Thing is, they just forgot to win.

Schmidt has always preferred a negative peace, but because he's against Trump that means he's on the side of that "order" MLK was talking about. And the white moderates who don't care about justice love him for it.

The base loves Trump, and will angrily refuse to vote for anyone who doesn't pledge sycophantic allegiance to Trump. The reality-based community is the opposite. Both sides will air campaign ads showing the pro-Trump candidate declaring their support for Trump.

The QAmoron crowd disgusts everybody. Their vote is the GOP filthy needle drug habit. Nobody wants to hang with a junkie like that.

Law and Order GOP ain't coming back.
Constitutionally literate GOP ain't either.

No. Remaining divided when under attack by foreign agents with a purpose to burn the Constitution and impose right-wing dictatorship is how the country dies.

Steve Schmidt respects our core democratic institutions. I disagree with him vehemently on policy, but we share core values. I have no problem calling him my countryman.

If every Republican were like Steve Schmidt, Trump would not have been president.

No, he doesn't. He's a Republican. He's racist AF and is fine with Black people being disenfranchised and abused by law enforcement, among other things.

If Steve wants to get on board with fixing the country - including from his own mistakes - rather than just being half-assed opposition to Trump, then we'll talk. For now he's a dishonest actor trying to get people to forget his complicity in making this happen, nothing more.

I know if I ever have to be a hirer again, I will look at a prospective employee's social and if I see OAN, NEWSMAX, Trump likies or other indicators - that person will not get the job. It's not revenge, I just do not want people of low character and/or poor judgment and critical thought skills and being a Trumplerite is an indicator (not to mention the outright sedition of late). I won't say a word to anyone about it. The fuxker just won't get the job.

You know what I'm hoping for?

1. Hold these f'ers accountable for what they've done.
2. Start expelling those from Congress that are admitted supporters of Qanon, and other conspiracy theorist types.  Because dangerous hate speech is not a thing protected by the first amendment.
3. Let's get some reform going on.  It's time to change the rules.  It's time to make it so rules are not just "gentleman's agreements" that can be ignored..

Of course I have exactly zero confidence that anything will happen at all.
