Sweet pickles are great. My mother's mustard pickles won't stand for this!

Pulled pork is just BBQ without the sauce. Sauce it and put a pickle slice on it. Dill only.

You can have my bread and butter pickles when you pry them from my cold, vinegary hands.

Bread and butter pickles are awesome.  Quick to make, preserve the flavor of the underlying vegetable.  When I got 3 pounds of radishes in my CSA box one year, I turned them into bread and butter pickles and they were fantastic.

It's not as bad as loading down perfectly good barbecue with a slimy layer of tastes diluting cabbage oozing mayo

Same basic recipe as regular bread and butter pickles, but I cut back on the cinnamon.

I did both daikons and red radishes.

no. coleslaw, even vinegar and oil slaw, is a dressed salad and lasts a couple days in the fridge (if you're lucky) before turning to mush.

pickled cabbage, like my fridge pickle (with carrots!) here gets better with time and can be flavored however you like on the sour/salty/sweet/spicy continuum. (the greenish top layer in the back one is pickled peppers, ugly in the pink juice, still delicious.) if you often make this, like me, buy some silicone lids and stainless steel rings for the jars, both last forever.

We canned a bunch of pickles two years ago.  Nice thing about canning your own, you make one batch and have a different flavor in every jar. Most of which aren't available in stores.  Currently eating some with red peppers.  Not hot peppers, just plain old red ones.

Pickles are delicious on a roast beef or pulled pork sandwich. The acidity helps balance out the richness of the fatty meat and the crunchy texture is a foil to the yielding texture of a properly cooked pulled pork.

To me pickles taste gross when put on any sandwich, including hamburgers. The taste is just too strong compared to everything else, so when you take a bite, pickle is all you taste. Oddly though, I like pickles on their own. When I get a burger and they forget to hold the pickle I just pull them off and eat them first.

You know you can make your own, don't you?  The best part is that pickles, being high-acid foods, do not require a pressure canner, so all you really need by way of equipment is a stock pot and some jars.

Though I would get a jar lifter. They cost little but make it much less burny.

Our family makes rouladen on a regular basis...

Thinly sliced roast beef (raw) then you put on some mustard and a slice of deli ham. Then a quarterd pickle in the middle. Roll it up and pin it with a toothpick. Place in slow cooker ontop of a huge bed of cabbage. Consume with big bread dumplings.

One of those dishes you just cant stop from eating until you feel broken inside.

honestly even my (Narrator: extremely)lazy version is wildly popular with the natives - red or vidalia onyon sliced thin, apple cider vinegar, leave en-frigo when prepping/cooking ever'ting else. when the vinegar turns pink, you know it's ready!

als-Kind, I despised any form of sweet pickles. but in the last few years, I've started to grudgingly accept them... when there's no other pickles in the house.

but earlier tonight? I did a sort of happy little jig at our doorstep seeing these. we used to get them at Dollar Tree for, well, y'know, one dollar. but the ephemeral nature of the place means that I'm still kicking myself for not buying 17 cases of the stuff. the waifu (lifelong lover of bread'n'butter) is surprisingly addicted to them (it's a very quick non-lingering burn, and tbh the Vlasic "salsa" pickles are way way way mas-picoso than these)
