"Boeing's ethics line is supposed to be anonymous, and said that company didn't respond to inquiries about why it was not in this case."

Hmmmm I wonder why? Maybe because it's like every ethics and HR programs self run by a company as a PR "Where here for you" but really just another arm to shield themselves at everyone's expense.

It sounds like the person that reported them consulted a lawyer before doing anything.  It's a good idea.  You might actually get paid.

/he can afford one of those drones now

The ethics line is never supposed to be anonymous.  It's sole purpose is to identify malcontents within the company.

This is also true for the Federal whistleblower hotline.

This guy was extremely naive.

His only recourse should have been to sue his own company on behalf of the Federal government

"Qui tam pro domino rege quam pro se ipso"

Under the False Claims Act.

The point of those hotlines is so that the company can find out and stop its internal wrongdoing before the government/customer finds out and sues them for $25 million.

HempHead: This guy was extremely naive.

He's $4.6 million richer.  He can afford to get educated now.

"....Stop internal wrongdoing...."

My Sweet Summer Child, the wrongdoing IS policy. What was once a great company got it's sould replaced with the Jack Welch McDonnell mentality and that's now part of all their subsidiaries as well.

How about some jail time for those executives?  Ya, I know that's crazy talk

I found 'easy mode' on all my ethics training.  Whenever it could possibly apply, always assume the answer is 'rat out your co-worker'.

Wait, Jack Welch the GE/Six Sigma ghoul, or John McDonnell, the CEO of McD-D when they merged with Boeing?  Because I always thought Stonecipher was the bastard that ruined Boeing when he came over from McD-D in the early 2000s.
