Ken didn't do bad.  Yes he had a few hiccups, but did okay.  The only real problem I had with him is his voice.  It didn't seem to have enough depth.  I get that it's  always been that way,  but when he's hosting he talks a lot more than when he's answering questions.

I do have to wonder how they would reconcile his hosting Jeopardy if "The Chase" is picked up.  A show that has an excellent host.

They're putting a lot of weight in the talent of reading off questions (answers).

He did good but yes, his voice needs take  command of the game, and it seemed more like the game was commanding him. He did and said all the right things but he needs to stern up the voice and really take command of and own the show.

/don't get me wrong. I'd be nervous as fark even attempting to fill Alex's shoes

He's trying too hard to mimick Trebecks style.

He's decent but it's not suited for him.

Yes and no. Alex has said that the host is not the star of the show and Ken needs to avoid becoming the center of attention. It's a tricky thing to manage and Alex made it look easy.

Plus, as we've seen, many fail to grasp the breadth the job.

Ringer? Wringer. I hate that mistake when casual writers make it. Professionals never should (or an editor should catch it). They are different, unrelated words.

Sorry, please continue with the conversation. I'll be fine.

I had similar thoughts to both of you about him.  I just wonder if he did it full time, would I get used to him and would he grow into the job.  He just sounded a bit off.  Not bad but not right on.

I didn't care for Ken Jennings when I saw him on Friday. Trebek was cognac and steak. Jennings is milk and cookies.

I need someone a bit more prickly than Jennings to host.

I think he's doing a really good job, a nice transitional host since he has so much history with the show, and comes across as pleasant (Tweets notwithstanding).  I have the feeling he doesn't want to be the permanent host anyway, since he has his own gigs going.

Speaking of mimicking previous hosts.  Jane Lynch is channeling way too much Anne Robinson on The Weakest Link.

I was thinking Ann Richards on Jeopardy especially when the players didn't get questions about Supernatural or Big Bang Theory.

I thought he was okay. I didn't really care for how he'd jump in with quick explanations of answers in some cases when nobody was correct, though. "The correct answer is XXX, which of course got it's name from blah blah blah."

Watched his first two episodes. I'd say my one complaint was that he talked to fast. Maybe that's just the difference between being his age and whatever age Alex was.

I'd like to see Burton do a turn as the co-host as well.

Washing machines don't have wringers any more, so "put through the wringer" has become one of those fossilized expressions where people don't understand the context, like "skip like a broken record" or "dial the phone".

It is only in recent years that Trebek slowed down his speech. Watching old episodes recently was jarring. This was especially true in the early Trebek years, but even during the seasons Jennings was a contestant, he read the clues pretty quickly.

I thought Jennings was fine. Perfectly adequate. I wouldn't be disappointed if he got the gig permanently. I'm also not married to the idea. Keep the guest hosts coming. Let's see who is the best.

He could combine Jeopardy with Punk'd and play tricks on the contestants while they try to answer questions.

They recently reran episodes from the first season.  Trebek talked much faster when he started as well.
