As one the the newly confirmed cases in California, ☹. However, I do count myself to be extremely fortunate to be damn near asymptomatic. Slightly weakened sense of smell has been my only symptom. It I didn't get tested once a week at work, I'd likely never have known I had it.

Feel better.  Drink lots of fluids.  Thoughts and prayers.   Don't have any orgies.

Lucky, I'm just now coming out of it. Smell is completely gone but at least I have some energy now and not just flat on my ass.

Just got my second dose of vaccine yesterday. The first was easy with no complications. Yesterday's dose put me on my ass. Injection site pain, swelling, headache, violent chills, and nausea. Rough night. Good day for football. Go Chiefs!

I had a bad reaction from the first dose, so the second one should lay me out for a couple of days, it seems.

I did warn, but that was based on what I was told. Now I've experienced it. Certainly worth it. I'll remain vigilant at work, but it helps to know that I'm a bit better off than before. We need to get this rolled out worldwide ASAP. I want to get back to spending my night shifts flirting with young nurses and eating pizza. This whole working hard thing is not what I signed up for.

Covid can spread through the eye and sinus cavities, just like it can spread through the throat. Not touching your eyes is an easy protective measure. As a bonus, not touching your eyes also cuts back on more prominent vectors for non-covid surface-borne viruses, like norovirus.

thanks. While that is true, I don't think it is on the same level of the others.  Scratching an itch on the face is a habit that is tough to break or notice you even do it.

For the others I agree, I don't just suddenly find myself at a stadium the same way I suddenly find myself digging sleep out of my eyes in the morning.

I would go with a thanksgiving/family reunion or church as a fourth panel.

We have a lot of indigenous reservations here. They've been hit hard. Our governor pursues the homicidal policy of herd immunity with a wide open economy.

I am noticing more people masking up.

We just hunker down and limit our exposure. When I do talk with others, you can see and hear fatigue.

I live in the panhandle of Florida and I've managed to shelter and not get sick. Meanwhile, I see restaurants and bars crowded with people around here, none of them wearing masks.

So yeah, I'm going to moralize because these idiots going out getting sick are doing it of their own volition.

Yeah, we've been #1 for like 2 weeks now.  Ducey isn't going to do anything to help us, and the local mask mandates are not enforced (cops won't arrest you for it).  All we can do is not leave the house and avoid all human interaction.

Conservative who calls libs stupid gets offended when it's pointed out that conservatives are stupid for refusing to mitigate the risk factors of contracting and spreading the most major viral disease of our generation, maybe century; tries to shift blame to the messenger instead of taking responsibility for his own behavior.

I mean this in the nicest possible way, but screw you. I've been extremely careful, only going to work and home and occasional grocery shopping for months now. I hang out with exactly one friend not in my "household" (I live alone) whom I know has also been very careful, and even then always with masks and outside, about once a week. Thankfully my case was detected before I passed it to her (or, to my knowledge anyone else). At work, we all wear masks, social distance, disinfect regularly, etc, but these things are not 100% virus-proof. I did not travel or see family for either Thanksgiving or Christmas this year, because i decided I would rather endure the disappointment of my 74yo diabetic mom (and boy did she lay it on thick) than risk her life. As I mentioned, I got tested once a week through my work, which, because we are a bunch of life science nerds, started up (and got state certification for) our own on-site diagnostic testing facility for the community pretty early on in this whole thing. Unfortunately, someone who works in my building in a lab near mine did make the dumb decision to travel over the holidays, and by the time those of us who were exposed were made aware of someone in our area testing positive, it was too late for me. But, I am very lucky to have had an extremely mild case, so I won't have to spend my afterlife haunting that person, so that's good at least. But I was neither stupid nor careless. So fark right off.

/I've been in total isolation (except for my cat) for a week and a half now, and might be a bit cranky
//I still plan on using the safety measures I'm already used to (masks, distance, hand washing, disinfecting) after I get paroled from covid house arrest.
///And vaccinated when it is available to me. Not gonna assume I'm protected now, but I am hoping🤞

That's part of it, but let's be real: If you live in a place where you're surrounded by plague rats even in the grocery store, or worse if you're forced to be around them at work (which they *cough* come to even *cough hack* they're obviously sick), just a mask with 80-90% effectiveness isn't going to prevent it. It's buying you time until you can get vaccinated.

If you're in this situation, get eye protection. Those transparent woodcutting glasses are probably best: Zero power, full coverage, and not embarrassingly weird to talk around in like swim goggles. It prevents you from touching your eyes, and prevents a virus laden droplet from landing in them. Studies are finding that this is the second most likely route for infection after inhalation.

Which brand? And does it matter regarding 2nd dose effects?

Just got my first dose of Moderna Thursday. No effect other than a sore arm for two days.

I got the Pfizer. First dose was a minor pain in the arm that lasted a few hours. Second dose was at 8 yesterday morning. Feels like the flu. The worst part is the chills. I already feel better than last night.
