Sure, we'll install him, but he's got to go through HR, and what with the holiday, they're out until Tuesday.  Then, with the weekend backlog, and Friday being a payday, HR is going to be swamped all day, so they probably won't get to it till late in the afternoon.

And the real problem is, we can't issue a phone, laptop, or even ID badge until after HR files all the paperwork.  Then it enters an IT ticket and the computer will need to get imaged for his role.  Once that's done, the phone and computer will get shipped from the IT main office in Kansas City.  We'll FedEx it, but it'll still take a week.  The ID badge we can have in 2 days, but until then he'll need a badged shadow to get around the building.  So best case scenario, we can get him in payroll on Tuesday evening, a badge on Friday, and a computer late next week or maybe the week after.

Hope nothing happens Wednesday afternoon to stop that process.

This little excerpt offers some consolation:

'He has not taken up the job, however, as he needed to complete administrative procedures, including taking a polygraph test.'

It'll take a week just to get his SF-86 submitted and validated as complete and accurate, and then another two weeks to start the process of fast-tracking his TS-SCI clearance, which generally takes six months to a year to complete, unless your sponsor is willing to request a fast track approval.

He'll be lucky to get his own coffee and take a shiat without a cleared escort.

Just because he has a computer network account doesn't mean it has the correct permissions. Those will have to be double checked and verified. Nobody gets full permissions except the admins.

Probably at least a weeks worth of training before they even let him connect a computer to the network.

The concern of Nakasone and others, current and former officials said, is that the White House is seeking to "burrow" Ellis into the job in violation of a long-standing policy that prevents embedding political personnel into career civilian positions prior to a change in administration.

Trump is "burrowing" his people all over the government, with no way for Biden to remove many of them.

I would fire him outright. All he'll do is go on the tv and play the victim. If he sues? Good luck with that. Rs whine and play the victim? Precedent, baby. Give back to them what they did.

Dust him and all the rest. Let the courts play with it for months. If he wins, well damn, he didn't pass the clearance investigation.

It can be done. Just throw out precedence every time. Make them regret the fark out of his bullshiat.

One more thing to add. Law suits like this can cost a lot of money. If he files follow the money and find out who is paying for it. We still don't know who financed the cow and mom suits yet.

They have one admin account that has all the permissions they just don't use it regularly. The every day work account will be limited yes.

The point is that this lawyer is going to have to beg for permissions to delete the incriminating files he is there to cover up. He isn't going to know where they are until he is told where they are And that could take weeks to find it all.

tRump has never in his life looked beyond himself, anyone who was interested in things beyond tRump's personal sphere where removed from his sphere.

Hence why he never gave a crap about international relations, or ... anything really ... he only cared about himself.  The moment something interfered specifically with this life, oh then he got interested.

Whilst tRump was "president" the rest of the WORLD made decisions and actions, that tRump has no idea even happened.  The best people in the world, our leaders, toned everything down, and did what they could in the shadows, whilst the dumbest person to ever get to claim to be the "US president," did his ignorant, self-centered best (which history will show to be shamefully bad and that the best thing he ever did was lose.)

Problem there is that if the President wants it then he can give clearance to literally anyone instantly.  One of the things that needs to change is the President being the ultimate arbiter of what is and isn't secret, and who can see what is secret.

LrdPhoenix: the ultimate arbiter

You mean a chief executive officer who has been duly elected or democratically elected?

But I hear 'ya: I'm all for addressing how it is a third or more of the government's work at the federal level is classified and for how long that has been a "problem" because the cumulative effect of it has been out of control beginning with J. Edgar Hoover. The United States has approached Stasi levels of embarrassing waste and abuse. Think of the fluke the Pentagon Papers were in the sense that it was focused only on the waste of conducting the VietNam War-- there has never been an accounting, or compilation of study based on metrics and statistics of the entire government, or even a focus of regulatory oversight of a particular enterprise. Congressional committees are not sufficiently robust and accountable to cooperate-- that's the institutional issue-- they account by assignment and separation, not collaboratively. Why? Power, in a word.

But I would NOT start of the top OR bottom of the cover-your-butt pitfalls of liability that go on. What became clear to me after 9-11 was a threshold of actionable intelligence and how careers are gained or lost depending on making the "right call" and the political fall-out in either direction.

The conspiracy of dumbfarks masquerading as a US administration the last four years has handed the future to ... someone else. China probably. The EU maybe. Not only are we no longer "the indispensable nation" we are quickly going to discover we are now irrelevant.

For four years, we have thrown a massive shiat-flinging tantrum, stomping on or outright betraying allies, sucking up to dictators (with precisely nothing to show for it), tearing up agreements, ignoring obligations, all the while thumping our chest and screeching about our innate, God-given superiority. Those of you with professional careers of any kind can imagine the resulting catastrophe if you did this in private business. You'd be lucky to end the freefall asking about the desirability of fries with that

The world gave us a pass on BushCo. Inc.'s ill-considered and worse-planned wars for profit. They were so happy to see us back in action as America they thrust the Nobel peace prize at Obama. Now, they know better. We can't be relied upon much less trusted. All future group efforts will be a little or a lot less effective because they will need to allow for the possibility of American betrayal. This is new. And there is no coming back from it. Luxembourg just told an American Secretary of State to go piss up a rope. Luxembourg. And while I appreciate the damage to Pompeo's future prospects it is unthinkable that we return to where we were. It just isn't going to happen.

Because while our superiority was real, it was by no means innate or God-given. It was the result of specific circumstances and events in the 20th century. How you gonna recreate any of that? You cannot. Our carefully built, hard-won, lovingly tended reputation is gone. It won't be coming back.

I wouldn't bet on that.  They were placed in those positions to make sure that no one says anything mean about Dear Leader and to prevent anyone from doing something antithetical to his policies- like actually trying to do their job.

If they aren't immediately identified, they will be after about two weeks of being expected to do actual work.

Wow, how can the stupid Washington Post omit this information? Their article makes it sound like Ellis is just a Trump stooge, a typical Trump loyalist, not someone who has already committed obvious treason and has every incentive to cover up as many crimes as he can.
