It is about to discover how powerful more than 74 million Americans can be.

I mean, not as powerful as 81 million Americans.

Two months ago it was that. Now it's a lot of disillusioned conspiracy theorists and lifelong Rs who have woken up after a 4 year bender. Good luck holding that coalition together dipshiat.

I feel like he's probably not wrong about this. Two weeks of "Socialist Biden Wants To Take Your Hamburgers" from Fox News and all the MagaHeads will fall in line.

Never forget that Newt resigned in disgrace.

In 1998, Gingrich's private polls had given his fellow Republicans the impression that pushing the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal would damage Clinton's popularity and result in the party winning a net total of six to thirty seats in the House of Representatives. At the same time Gingrich was having an affair with a woman 23 years his junior.[114] But instead of gaining seats, Republicans lost five, the worst midterm performance in 64 years by a party not holding the presidency.[115] Other ethics violations including an unpopular book deal, added to his unpopularity even though he himself was reelected in his own district.[116][117]
The day after the election, a Republican caucus ready to rebel against him prompted his resignation of the speakership. He also announced his intended and eventual full departure from the House a few weeks later. In January 1999 he resigned his seat.[118] When relinquishing the speakership, Gingrich referred to other Republicans when he said he was "not willing to preside over people who are cannibals".

I wish you weren't right, but that is exactly what will happen. They will forgive, forget, and rationalize every bit of seditionist insurrection because they believe that there is this utopian world of plenty that they will inherit once they elect or re-elect enough likeminded people. And the talking heads at their favorite news station will continue to coddle them because it is good for business. The biggest fear of Fox News is their audience getting educated from a real news source. They will continue to tell them what they want to hear. And the masses will eat it up.

Any tension within the Republican Party will rapidly be replaced by anger at left-wing Democrats, so there won't be a Republican War of Northern Aggression

While the first is true, the second is not.
It will be the a Republican War of the Coastal elites and other traditional bogymen.

To be conservative is to be static in an every changing world. The pace at which change is occurring is only increasing and it is freaking them out to the point of... well here we are.

Maybe. I know the goal was to create a mob of conservative idiotsvoters who would be rabid [insertchosenRNCstooge] followers, and let the real repub leaders run things from the background, but the problem is they let things get a little too dumb, and their mob latched on to Trump, and only Trump. Not the entire mob, but it remains to be seen just how much.

I read RW media and forums.

They are panicking, scared, angry, and very, very confused.

The one thing they are in agreement on is that the GOP is dead to them.

I'm not going to respond to the useless relic this "article" was written by, Gingrich is the has-been clown, but I can tell you all that the GOP is proper farked.

The fact that seated GOP politicians who presumably managed to somehow win at least one election think it's a good idea to hurl themselves face-first onto a landmine by straight-up mocking Cortez for the crime of having once had a real job as a member of the working class certainly illustrates the problem of them being too stupid to even keep their own side's positions straight pretty neatly.

I mean... are you farking serious.  As a GOP member, where theoretical dick-sucking of blue collar laborers is literally the one and only fig leaf for your entire agenda that anyone approves of... just completely unsolicited cracking jokes about how blue-collar laborers are inferior peons not worthy of representation in our democracy.  Truly, these are some canny farking masterminds over there on the red side of the aisle.

In 2010, the "tea party" threatened to splinter the GOP and create a third party. And, what happened? Oh, yeah, the GOP just incorporated the tea party agenda as its  own and then elected a tea party president.

He has a unique political mind.  He decided in 1992 that Hillary Clinton was a bigger threat to the republicans than her husband, starting a 30 year smear campaign that ultimately made trump president in 2016.

The problem with the internet is that it allows jagoffs like that to spout crap without getting hit.  Most of the republican tough guys would be scared out of their minds the minute they meet any real physical retribution for the garbage they say.  The insurrectionists just took it to the next level thinking that all the lack of pushback and real physical consequences means they could do whatever they want.

The primaries for every House Rep and a third of the Senate and a whole lot of State reps are in the summer of 2022.  Campaigning starts in a year.  Which means establishment Republicans have one year to get everything under control before the Trumpers and QNuts start primarying every GOP rep in sight who has to defend their seat.  I suspect it's going to be a sh*tshow.

Ha ha.
