4seasons85!: I've never understood why police don't want dash and/or body cameras. The only reason I can think of is they don't want to get caught doing illegal things. There have been a few dash/body camera videos that show the police were justified in their actions or that the complainer was outright lying about how the police treated them. Wouldn't they want proof that they did their job right?

I disagree with your first sentence.  You seem to understand completely.

I'd really like to know why police deserve any funding after they collaborated with white supremacists in a coup on our capitol.

so 2 cops (1 off-duty) save a teenager from accidentally causing a major traffic collision with possibly multiple casualties, and your brilliant conclusion is:
.
.
.
"defund the police"

What's next?  Firefighters extinguish an apartment fire caused by faulty wiring, and your response will be:
.
.
.
"defund the fire dept"

> Sarah and her parents say she has not had any seizures since that morning.

It sounds like she's had seizures before.

WTH was she doing driving?
Oh, she was permitted to drive because because she was on medication and hadn't had been seizure free (they say) for 6 months.
And she decided to skip the medicine because she didn't like it, and didn't need it, and her FREEDUM!

She won't be driving for a good while which is no fair because she is cute.

FTA: "Any officer put in that position I'm confident would have done the same thing to help that young lady," Sgt. Coons said.

Sadly, I have my doubts.  She's lucky they didn't assume she was drunk or high (rather than seizing) and proceed to beat the bark off of her tree in lieu of providing proper medical care.

I'd make a white joke, but depending on where one resides (and much in part thanks to junk racemic mexi-meth (not that clean dextro is much better long-term, but it doesn't destroy the mind and body nearly as quickly as what's on the street these days)), white folk can't assume they'll be safe in the hands of cops any more than anyone else now.

/Was hoping that equality would've swung the other way.

Protecting rich white girls -IS- their job.
They have shown more than enough willingness to PIT maneuver and shoot black people having seizures. Hell, even having medical emergencies in PARKED cars.
But a white girl, that they are SUPPOSED to protect.

I think some extra kudos to the cops involved are deserved.  They not only did their jobs, but were able to save some lives with only a minor bit of property damage.

Not saying give them each a Congressional Gold Medal, but recognition within the dept and "Employee of the Month", and maybe some free coffee for a couple of months.

there should always be some "carrots" for those who are in the right place at the right time and manage to perform admirably.

I celebrate the saving of a life whether it is one's job or not.

But you do you I guess.

The after care part, I agree, but getting her safely to a stop was pretty good work.  I'll happily grant them that.
