Nirbo: Read more than the first sentence before submitting.

You expect people to read the article?

TFA's headline says: "Duke of Sussex 'heartbroken by situation with family' after US move" and that's good  enough for readers of the Evening Standard.

From the comments above, I guess we found out why British papers would celebrate William and Kate for something, and then eviscerate Harry and Meghan for the exact same thing.

Man, someone wanted their name in ink.

he Duke of Sussex is "heartbroken by the situation with his family" after moving to America, his friend Tom Bradby has said.

"I think he is heartbroken by the situation with his family, you don't necessarily need to have knowledge to know that, but I think it is true."

"But are they unhappy out there? No, I don't think that's right, I think they are pretty happy actually,

Now I need a self-imposed time out for posting in a royal family thread.

All of that. He got married and changed his life. It's way, way different than what he's ever known. He left his family, it has to hurt.
They're getting on with their lives. Only Harry can decide if he's made a mistake, and probably not for a long time.

Where is the unlikely tag?

The only ones hoping for them to return are the British tabloids so they have someone to rag on.

We don't have anything like it and it is the best soap opera around, made even more fun by the brutal British press. I grew up during the heyday of the Kennedys and they were followed even more than the Royals. Now that most of them have faded into insignificance we go back to the Brits since a few of them are always significant.

It was a general comment on royalty. Why would anyone normal want to read an Evening Standard article?

That is a hell of a choice. Either commit to the Royal Life, at the risk of not being able to truly live your life on your own terms. Or, you choose love - eschewing the trappings and benefits of the Royal life, depending purely on your choice of partner.

Honestly, Good on him for choosing love and defending it. Hope meghan is worth it...

Self-promoting money whores. So I"m just fine with the crusty old British royalty.  Sarah Ferguson having her toes sucked on has more class than KK ever had.

Well, his wife is leading him around, constantly pointing out, "See? This is what regular normal people do!"
He's plastered on a fake smile and realizing, "What the Fk did I sign up for? This blows! Where's the servant that washes my balls? "

So... normal person has normal feelings about the estranged family they don't talk to anymore?

While I guess in theory I don't approve of royalty, like, existing as a general thing I'm not sure why it's being presented as a huge newsworthy revelation that they tend to have basically the same feelings about their family drama that I do about mine.  Like... the default assumption would be that that would be a fairly universal set of situations not perceptibly altered by large mountains of unmerited and unearned wealth, y'know?

I come to threads about royalty not because I give a single fark about royalty.  I come to read the comments which are occasionally funny.  Because the very concept of royalty is baseline funny and entertaining.  It's like we have some sort of common fantasy that sex with a royal would be otherworldly in a peak sex kind of way.  It stands an even chance of being more "I say dear, mind the hair a bit."  and "Bloody Hell, you sound like an old steam train trying to leave the station."

Someone doesn't realise that UK tabloids, and people, loved Megan before and after the marriage, and that Kate and her family have been criticised lots of times by those same papers. And don't even get started on how they treated Fergie. Even Diana came in for criticism.
It's what the tabloids do.

"I sure do miss my family, but getting it on the steady sure does beat the fark out of fox hunting with my dad while he daydreams about being a tampon."

2021-01-16 2:04:29 PM
There's an incredibly strange disconnect in these threads between what people want to criticize them for and what they actually appear to be doing.

Them: "We've had enough of the prying into our lives and all the nasty comments! We're leaving the royal family and we're leaving Britain!"

You guys: "Wow, what a couple of attention whores! Look at those whores trying to get attention by running away from all the attention! Whores!"

Them: "Seriously, we're sick of it! We're getting off of all social media now!"

You guys: "They're not going to constantly call attention to themselves on Facebook and Twitter and Instagram? What a cheap ploy for attention! Is there no limit to their attention whoring?"

Them: "Dammit, we still can't even take the trash out without tripping over six or seven tabloid reporters on the way to the curb."

You guys: "Accept our attention and thank us for it, you whores! You know you want it!"

I really don't care what they're up to, but these threads are too weird to miss.

You're dealing with over 70,000,000 citizens who tried to re-elect the worst President in the nation's history. Of course the media will cater to reality TV and curb height fodder.

Who ever wrote this article should be taken out back and beaten with a hose.

Not because the subject is pointless, it is, but because it's a TOTAL non-article...

"Formal Royal sad about leaving family"... Less than a paragraph in "The couple are happy in the US"... Go fark yourself.

He's doing the same thing his uncle did. Guess what? His uncle (former King mind you) died happy as hell. Meanwhile, Charlie looks like an over cooked bag of pasta that's been left out in the rain most days. Page me when they finally lock up Andrew for being a pedophile.
