Does he think everyone just has a $20 burner phone like on the TVs?

2021-01-16 9:16:47 AM
Uhm, he dies know that your phone isn't the only thing with that information, right? Like, your service provider probably knows as well.  Oh, and Google (Android) or Apple (iOS).

2021-01-16 9:16:54 AM
Well gee maybe you tactical geniuses should have had your phones off in those bags that block signals.

"Does", but "dies" is acceptable.

Why bother? You posted on big P and they have all that. Your messages are all cloud back-ups. Email is still out there. Other forums still exist. Your GPS data proving where you were does not require the physical phone. All this is doing is protecting you if there are even more wildly incriminating photos on your device. Federal charges are coming with or without your phone in hand.

2021-01-16 9:18:05 AM
They should all just jack off one last time then shoot themselves in the heart.

2021-01-16 9:18:27 AM
The feds already know whose phones were in the building, but great way to trick people into breaking their own stuff.

2021-01-16 9:18:53 AM
It's probably way too late for that at this point.

2021-01-16 9:20:06 AM
Why be afraid, if you have nothing to hide?

2021-01-16 9:20:21 AM
umm, my friend is worried some of his private penis photographs (for research) aren't deleted forever.

Instructions on how to turn those that might only be charged in misdemeanors into felons.

18 U.S. Code §1519. Destruction, alteration, or falsification of records in Federal investigations

Whoever knowingly alters, destroys, mutilates, conceals, covers up, falsifies, or makes a false entry in any record, document, or tangible object with the intent to impede, obstruct, or influence the investigation or proper administration of any matter within the jurisdiction of any department or agency of the United States or any case filed under title 11, or in relation to or contemplation of any such matter or case, shall be fined under this title, imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both.

No, you can wipe the memory by putting your phone in the microwave for thirty seconds on 'high'....everybody knows that!

How would they post selfies that way?

Even better, destroy your phones and fire guns into the sky because all your data is in the cloud.

Good point. Not network savvy, so I don't know that the Wi-Fi would bother to note any unless they actually tried to connect (i.e., actually sent a password attempt) rather than just going "hey, who are you?"

Why do Republican think that all they have to do is say a few magic words and they can do anything?

"I feel threatened"
"I'm just kidding"

The proud boys and other hard-right groups are obsessed with "western European heritage", so they allow token Hispanic people to represent the Spanish part of western Europe.  It's part of their "see we're totally not racists, we have Spanish people in our hate group too!" arguments.  What they don't mention is that the Hispanic people will be the first to be thrown under a bus or purged once there is less media attention on them.

Up until recently, reality was supporting that.

Mister Buttons: Does he think everyone just has a $20 burner phone like on the TVs?

I suspect there is a nontrivial overlap between the people who participated in the attempted coup and those who were destroying their Keurig coffee makers and burning their Nike shoes a few years ago because those companies had the audacity to pay lip service to human rights.

Destroying a phone worth several hundred dollars that they probably still have a contract with? Totally a thing they'll do with barely a thought of the consequences.

Goddammit you stupid farks, I'd better not hear anything about microchips in vaccines now that you posted selfies of your crimes on Facebook. NO ONE NEEDS TO CHIP THE VACCINES YOU farkING HILLBILLIES.

I like that he showed that he's aware of his own guilt by later saying not to destroy their phones for his 'legal sake'.  Prosecutors appreciate it when the defendant agrees with them and say so publicly.

All of them. And "forgot" isn't the right way to describe it- "had no foresight that it might be in their best interest" is what you were looking for. They all thought what they were doing was going to be seen as liberating a country and monuments would be built to them as heros.

A lot. FBI said something (the next day) about knowing which phones were inside and which were outside.

Isn't most of the data coming from cell towers, provider records, and Parler dumps anyway?
As a general rule I support stronger privacy laws the preclude either storing the data in an identifiable way or have strict limits on what can be recorded and how long it can be stored. But I'm not an authoritarian who got caught in their own trap by their own actions.

The best thing about it is that when courts know about destroyed evidence, they are allowed (directed, really) to pin the worst possible interpretation on it.
