baka-san: Stupid people only seek out info that reinforces their own beliefs

In all fairness, everybody gravitates towards sources that tend to validate their pre-existing beliefs. The difference between the people that actually are open-minded and the ones that fall into cult-like thinking is that the open-minded people try to stay aware of this human tendency and correct themselves when they find themselves falling into that trap.

These guys though? They are not Skeptics in any way shape or form. They are denialists hiding behind a veneer of skepticism thinking it gives them intellectual cover for their denial of the reality around them.

Knowing the difference between straight reporting and opinion is basic news literacy.

The idea that all news is biased and the REAL story has to be something else is the kind of rationalization that Qanon depends on.

Selfish people who don't care about anyone else today will grasp at any excuse not to care about future generations, either.

"The study did not find a link between support for left-wing populist parties and climate change denial, but did observe respondents with less interest in political issues were more likely to be climate-change sceptics."

The abstract does not indicate whether they studied which groups were more likely to trust climate change alarmist claims.

I would say that you're wrong because you're using too broad a brush.  I would say that are others who understand that every news source has some sort of bias.  That's why you have to look at multiple sources and cut away opinions from facts.  Then you look at what slants those sources are going for to get closer to the truth.  Only then can you make an informed decision.

The big problem with U.S. news sources today is that there are few facts and a lot of opinions.  The opinion BS to actual news ratio is sky high.
