We're never going to be done with this shiat, are we.  We'll be masking up and social distancing for the rest of our lives, and all for naught.

We're on a path to need an annual combined flu/cold vaccine. Think about it, the common cold is a mild cousin of Covid. So we make a shot that cures all of the current strains.

No one wanted to make the easy sacrifices early on, and no one wants to make the big sacrifices now. It's just going to be a slow, steady grind all the way down until population density is low enough to put R0 under 1. Once covid is done with us it'll be the entire mammal family next. Thought marine life was safe from it? Ell ohh ell.

/not sure how to pull it back in after going full-Nazi on plague rats
//at some point there won't be much worth saving

Has anyone seen any literature yet on WHY this one is more contagious? Does it aerosolize better? Can it cause an infection after exposure to relatively fewer individual virus particles? Both?

There was a lot of chatter that winter (low humidity) was going to lead to easier transmission across the board, even with masks and such, due to the propensity of the "large droplets" to turn dry up before they fall and all that other fluids science I won't try to describe.

Anyways, I've poked around a bit and havent even seen any conjecture about what could be done better to slow this one down. If people were even more stringent about masks and such would that help?
