So does Florida have a recall law?

/Because screwing all the places where the population is should have some consequences.

Isn't that the people who think it's an overhyped hoax? Why would they want a vaccine?

He's in a close race for the worst governor in America, along with the governors of Texas and SD.

I didn't think there'd be a worse FL governor than Rick Scott but well...it's still kind of a tie but they're both awful people.

Unfortunately the only recall law we have is for locally elected officials.  We can't get him out of office until 2022.

Trump won my county in FL, but it's been profiled on national news twice this past week for being an unmitigated disaster. In order to sign up, you have to register with Eventbrite, which is a website for buying tickets to shows. It has no capability of collecting names for future appointments. It just says sorry, no doses available. Check back later. Go see the circus.

We don't, and we have a governor who made sure to pass a law that voters could no longer petition for issues to be put on our ballots. He wants to run for president and be the more dictator-effective and evil version of Trump.

Didn't President LawandOrder say something about "I dunno, maybe you second amendment people can" or something?

Just hypothetically. Just trying to remember.

Or, you know, _actual_ law and order could try to make a case for genocide.

400,000 so far. A day or two away from passing the number of lives we lost in WWII.

Thanks, MAGAts.

How can that site sell tickets to shows if it can't handle future events?  Events often repeat over several days.  I suspect, it being Florida, they've just set it up wrong.  Or maybe they aren't creating vaccination "events" more than a few days into the future due to uncertainty about quantities that'll be available.

No no, tell them about the fake appointment sites on Eventbrite, where scammers collected money for appointments that were completely fake

FL Vaccination chart

He's a piece of shiat, I hope he catches COVID and becomes an invalid.

That said, based on the chart and my quick mental comparison of vaccinations to population for those counties vs. ones not getting it via Publix, it doesn't look like they're getting any real noticeable amount more than the others.

...or that they would skew older and rural.

Desantis is a POS but that doesn't mean there aren't defensible public health reasons for where they're targeting the limited vaccine supply.  Alternately, it could be *exactly* what it looks like.

My father's county was won by Trump by 85%. My father already got his appointment for next week for the vaccine. It helps he's elderly and retired military......

What the actual article says is that they are giving first priority to areas with lower quality health systems and more old people per person.

I bet the Villages will be getting 4 maybe 5 shots per person.
Maybe it will cure the gonorrhea too.

My mother has two relatives that live there. Two seperate homes. They are going farking crazy. They want their shot because they usually go on at least three cruises a year. They think it will be over when THEY get their shot.

You are correct. I farking hate it when liars make me defend the actions of assholes, but...

These counties are pretty much healthcare deserts. All they did was reach out to private sector community partner who is in all these counties instead of trying to stand up a vaccination site.

It was smart, it was good for the people, and "blue" counties still received hundreds of thousands of vaccinations.

The original reporter is bad and should be fired if the outlet they work for in any way considers themselves journalists. They lied by omission.

The headline on fark, straight up lied.

I hate Ron DeathSentence, but one of the highest percentages of vaccine coverage is in Orange County, which Republicans lost decisively.

Nuke the Villages from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
The place is an above ground cemetery anyway.

Makes total sense. Volusia Countian here and still driving around my county I see tons of Trump signs and flags but limited masks. When I wear mine, I actually get dirty looks at some of the smaller gas stations and mom and pops. I work in very blue Orlando (Orange Co), and there people walking on the street by themselves are wearing masks. They won't let you in to buildings without them.

So you take the idea of "masks are tyranny" from Trumpers and the high rate of spread it makes sense that Trump counties are seeing vaccines delivered first. Problem is, just like mask wearing, they won't take a vaccine either.

Good thing for people like me who are taking the precautions and want the vaccine, because I was able to get the vaccine relatively quickly. My coworkers who are wanting the vaccine in Orange are going to have to wait weeks or months, unfortunately.

2021-01-16 7:06:49 AM
I should clarify that my more youthful coworkers in Orange it will take longer to get a vaccine. As Indylaw pointed out Orange has a high rate of vaccine coverage, but they're rolling out to older folks first. A lot of older folks in my county don't want the vaccine so they're opening it up to more ages.

At what point can we "stand our ground" against non mask wearers? It can be scientifically stated that they pose a danger to our lives when they get close us.
They made the rules, perhaps we should just use them.

As of now, Publix is only offering vaccine in Florida counties won by Republicans.

DeSantis said the initial rollout has focused on areas where hospital systems might need assistance and where there are large senior populations.

No. What the article ACTUALLY says is that Desantis claims this. The article is not making the claim.
