This is my all time favorite arcade game. My main team was the Sonics with Shawn Kemp and Detlef Schrempf. Backup team was the Hornets using Alonzo Mourning and Larry "Grandmama" Johnson.

I was a Sonics fan growing up, but I always played better with Charlotte.

Hardaway-Mullins-Sprewell Warriors forever, dropping 3s all day

Olajawon and Horry for me.  I wasn't even a Rockets fan, but Hakeem and Big Game Bob always got the job done....

It always irritated me how poor Drexler/Porter together. The Glyde wasn't even capped out on dunking. Pathetic.

I liked the secret characters. Playing as Beastie Boys or George Clinton blew my younger mind.

CSB: Played against a friend, and we had Lakers vs. Celtics (I took Boston, controlled Reggie Lewis, with the AI as Kevin McHale).

Went three overtimes, drew a small crowd in the arcade, and what got everyone was how on fire the AI McHale was, as if the real pro was playing us on the nearest court, just swatting almost everything and nailing threes.

An onlooker spouting the names of random NBA white players eventually caused my friend to ROFL when he said "SIKKMA!"

/name benchwarmers of the 1990s-2000s NBA was a car ride game we did after that

I used to always beat my friend at the buzzer with a 3 from Detlef

I gotta agree, Charlotte was my favorite team to play with.

I'm trying to remember who the Bucks even had in that game because they were so bad I never played with them and the Bulls didn't have MJ.

I will admit I don't know shiat about game development or licensing costs, but it seems like you could make a pretty simple NBA Jam engine, update it once per console generstion and have roster changes available as DLC.

Make that like $30 and I would be all over that. The only thing close have a found was an NBA Jam for PS3 that is available as a streaming title in the PlayStation store.

The strong computer assistance basically meant whoever took the last shot wins. Kinda sucks cause the gameplay was otherwise great.

A few people in this thread nailed it. Hornets. Mourning/Johnson gives you two players who could do pretty much everything.

When playing with Charlotte, I would get really hot with three-pointers....it got to the point that my younger brother thought I was using a cheat code.

He would get legitimately pissed off.

I played the Nets with Drazen Petrovic and Derrick Coleman and would rain 3's with Drazen every chance I could.  Loved that game.

Houston fan and that was always my combo. Feeling nostalgic for those times now.

Huh...Thought you had 3 players on each team to choose from. So Sprewell wasn't on the Warriors for the game. But we still cracked the Top 10 on the list, almost made the Top 5. Rock on.

NBA street was also a lot of fun.

I don't understand why they arent still making these games.
I new NBA jam with tons of 3 man teams from all over history and an online mode would be a blast.

Charlotte was good indeed. But my go to was always Stockton and Malone.

In the arcade, I was San Antonio, Elliot and Robinson.  When it reached the Genesis and rosters changed a bit, I was Phoenix with Johnson and Barkley.
